If you read the white papers on it, you would know that that is the goal. We are far from it, but these indeed are the methodologies that need to be perfected to get on the next rung of the ladder. What is really important, is that they are making progress by applying quantum physics and producing results. Every breakthrough provides a new platform of understanding, and is the way all scientific theories eventually become realities.

There is not even a theory on how FTL communication is possible via this method. It's currently believed impossible.

Impossible has been said about many things we use today. The point was that that every time they get better at entanglement, it provides new experimentation that was impossible before the breakthrough. I don't think you can really count anything out.

Except it was not impossible before the breakthrough. It was possible, and covered in theory, just had not been accomplished yet. One was theoretically possible, one is theoretically impossible. See the difference?
