This just coming across alerts!
"technical issues" closing AA air travel down
The airports affected are Chicago's O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami.

"We're working to resolve technical issues impacting several airports as quickly as possible," an American (AAL) spokesman told CNN. "We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience."

Anyone getting this? Please add anything you might have. Didn't a terror alert get raised in UK? Was that for refugees?
Not saying this is terror related at all! This is all that I see so far. Thanks

Computer systems are probably the issue.

I'd expect this to blow over quickly.

They're still going through the merger process. They're bound to have issues as they find systems that don't play well with each other as they integrate more closely.

Could be a virus attack.

I hope so. After I saw the alert I couldn't find the story anywhere. I thought I've been reading to much!

Wonder if this is the Chinese response to Obamas threat of retaliation for hacking.

If it is we'd never hear the truth.

If it was terror-related or something more serious, I'd expect that all airlines at those locations would be grounded. Since it's only one, AA, it's more likely that they are having issues with one of their systems.

As far as the merger, I know nothing about that.

yep probably it!
I bet it will be a travel nightmare for those caught up in the delay, if it lasts to long. Or no, they can just transfer flights?

There are a lot better places they can hack besides a relatively minor target like an airline. Many of them use older computer systems, and being in the middle of a merger makes it more likely this is just a computer failure. It happens.

It depends on what system is affected. If it's the system that prints the manifest then evening is grounded. If it's only affecting some flights they can move people.

While they're remaining American Airlines, US Airways bought them. They got approval earlier this year for it to go through so they still have a ways to go getting everything aligned.
