Even a high altitude aircraft (1000,000) is still a long ways off from a satellite (1,000,000 ft on average). The laser would have to be too large,
too heavy and cost to much to get it up high enough to be effective. Missiles are way cheaper and probably more effective.
Blowing up sats in general is a bad idea though in general. They need to be deorbitted so the Earth isn't surrounded by huge debris
clouds.
