Ive recently been looking into UFO sightings in my local area.

www.berwick-advertiser.co.uk...

photo no longer on a newspaper website?

also

tweedtalk.proboards.com...

i find it funny all pictures of the UFO are deleted from host sight but the picture of the town isnt....

can anyone shed light on this for me? do pictures get deleted after a certain amount of time from host sights?
could they have deleted them? if yes. why would they???
or has someone else deleted them?

Well the thread seems to be from 2009 so the newspaper article was from probably the same time. It's nothing special that older articles etc can get deleted. Did you save them to your HDD? If yes you could re-upload them again.

i once got a bad picture from a ufo that i saw, then posted the sighting on this ufo sightings thing, then copied the pic from their site, and its was in worse condition than the original that i have on my computer, did it scramble by moving it around, or did they make it grainier on purpose? i dont know.

they likely resaved it again in a format or data rate or size that was compatible with their platform ...
facebook does it also .. even if you download a High qiality pic you just uploaded .. it will be lesser quality ..

same also with youtube videos ... if you download one you only just uploaded .. you will see its likely been re-encoded, and therefor, likely lost some data ..

think of making a recording of a recording of a recording ..... every instance results in more data loss ...

i agree with TauNorthwolf ... they likely archive pics from older stories .. to save disk space / bandwidth ... or perhaps even database related ...

Am sure i remember this was a more common occurance with more site admins, several years back, when disk drives were lesser capacity, more expensive, and slower .. and when, cpu's and networks including internet was also slower ... and just everything was slower .. a whole text portion of a web page could load in a few seconds, while you would painfully still have to watch the pics download a few sections at a time ..

its prob still good common practice to clear out old pics .. more so for some older servers perhaps ...

It is probable that it was a test or otherwise classified vehicle and that this was an act of information control though it could also have a more mundane answer such as the photos having been staged and the paper wanting to brush there own gullibility under the carpet though I personally saw a UFO once, no photo just eyeballed it as I was walking home late at night and it was nothing to write home about just a silver grey reflective surface (reflecting the old sodium yellow street lights and just below the cloud layer dipping in and out of it) that was disc or spherical in shape moving extremely fast and silently against the wind in mid winter toward Pilkington laboratory's in Lancashire over the village of Westhead near Ormskirk back in the late 90's, what made me see it was a feeling and I just looked up right at it, I felt as if someone was watching me as it swept over about 200-400 feet Guestimate altitude.
