But ordinary Linux Mint upgrade process killed itself and the operating system along with it and I do have to reinstall Linux Mint.

Talking to myself here, I know, but I didn't end up having to reinstall LinuxMint. I tried several magic incantations that didn't work, and then hit it with the patronus: I reran the failed update task from the system recovery command line. That seemed to fix Cinnamon, I think it was a broken pointer to some library or the other. I am not convinced it is completely fixed, but at least it is functional.

And now back to your regularly scheduled discussion of Windows 10 installation issues...

Edge on ATS had become a nightmare. Sometimes taking 45 seconds just to post a reply, or navigate to another page.

Downloaded Chrome last week. It's buttery smooth on this site.

Still getting the pop-up sticker ads that started 2 weeks ago, but I'm thankful that Chrome works well with ATS.

The trackers and the cookie interaction with various browsers are the culprit.
Ghostery and SuperAntiSpyware are recommended, and accomplish marvelous things.

I understand that ATS has to keep revenue coming in, to keep this site running. But I wish they'd offer an annual subscription, for those of us who don't want the pop-up ads.
