Jarryd Hayne.

A star of Australia's NRL has made the shift.

After some dark hours - not through doubts of his ability - but there were issues, even the lingo was foreign.
He found himself shoving post-it notes down his shorts just to help him remember the plays !
He has shaken off the doubting demons - done his homework and put the naysayers to bed.

Jarryd Hayne has made the cut of 53 for the San Francisco 49ers'.

This is huge news down under, and his support is phenomenal.

I was wondering if the hype has made any ripples in the NFL fandom ??

Plenty there to see. If you have not seen this bloke in action - take a look at his last outing...

Keep your eye on # 38

( the Plane tag comes from his post scoring celebration )

I love this guy, and I love what this does for the sport. It opens up another door in the hunt for raw talent. Hayne is a weapon and I don't think he'll remain 4th in the depth chart in that position for long. I'm sure the squad and the coach are itching to see how he performs during the season, maybe on 3rd down plays. He's strong, like, really strong.

Yours truely, an avid Niners fan all the way from bonnie Scotland.

Lets face it . A rugby player has to be in better shape than any US football player. And I am an American who loves football. But rugby is a much tougher sport. Out of a 2 hr football game , the average US team plays for what , maybe 30 minutes? How long does rugby play. Almost the entire length of the game. The action barely stops fro beginning to end

I have nothing against 9ers and love Australia so I will cheer for him. Unless he plays my Patriots.

Special Teams is huge, so as long as he kicks ass there he will keep getting opportunities.

Hehehe _a full strength player can expect 80 minutes of full on - in your face - wanna kill you type scenario !

That is the rule in NRL ...

Check out a snippet of him in action in state of origin ...

Possibly the hardest fought code anywhere ....

I am all for this guy, not sure he is quite ready for the RB spot but will be beast on special teams.
An area that the niners need some help on IMO.

It's going to be interesting to say the least. The NFL is a reactionary sport. They will adapt to Hayne BUT the dude is still learning. He may be even better when his instincts catch up. The guy I feel for is Reggie Bush. Jarrad sure put a dent into what was going to be his role.

You think he will dip into that third down back role?

Maybe I am just being to hesitant on him with first string D's.
Especially in the west, land of dominate defense.
His upright running style is strange but damn if it doesn't work for him, I wonder if it is hard to read what he is going to do that way for defenders since they are not used to it.

Lets just hope the O-line allows us to see any of them in that role, and if Kaep has progressed as much as has been said.

I think he will be mostly special teams this year while he learns more about Football and the Niners.

Word down under is that #38 jerseys are down to 6 in the team store.
And he is the local poster boy ...

Looking forward to his first real blooding ...
Bear in mind guys ... he played this hard since he was a kid with very little padding.

That's how we play, I can only imagine the extra freedom all that safety gear must provide.
Ed: That also equals far greater forces ... I get it. Haha !

I am sure #38 could well be targeted ...
