VIX

Early in the week, the S&P 500 entered its first correction in nearly four years (A correction is when an index falls 10% or more from its high). In total, it plunged 11% in 6 days, wiping out $2.2 trillion in value from US stocks.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), a popular measure of investor fear, is still flashing red. It closed Monday at 27.95, 64% higher than its average since August 2011, when the S&P 500 had its last correction.

We strongly recommend using stop losses on all stocks. A stop loss is a preset price at which you plan to sell. If a stock hits that price, you sell. This lets you own stocks that are rising while also limiting your risk if markets crash.

I don't remember ever seeing the VIX rated so high! Investors are terrified, as they well should be!

Keep an eye on the stock market. September could get interesting.

It is pretty high. Here's a multi-year chart for some perspective.

In Oct '08 it reached a peak of 79. It reached close to 40 less than a week ago. It seems a little pressure has been released.

Hard to say.

I think both days will hit the stock market hard.

Buy low, sell high, when this happens find good stocks and spend yo money! These are great opportunities. Anyone telling you to sell your stocks during these swings is a asshat. Assuming of course your investing for long term gains.

I make that assumption due to Elul 29 occurring Sunday, the 13th of September 2015 which is not a trading day. Would have to be the trading day before or after if the Elul 29 pattern holds.

Does anyone else besides me believe that stock futures are being "fixed" by the U.S. government to point higher???

No. They were down a bit lastnite.

I think investors try to ride off slightly outdated news, then play their true understanding towards the end of days, or micro-cycles.

So you think the US government is fixing future pricing far into the negative?

Explain how this is achieves their goals.

They fix everything from lottery numbers to the markets we trade on.

Their goals are to trick us out of our pennies even when they have trillions of dollars, that is their main goal, it is merely a game and they just want to see how long they can pull this act off.

Yea so, that's called paranoia.

Far too all-encompassing and absolute to be taken seriously.

Paranoia? We're quick to dismiss something aren't we(;

Go check how many times lotteries were caught fixing numbers little non-paranoid guy.

You will eat your words after that.
