Two journalists killed in shooting during live newscast at Smith Mountain Lake

Sorry, at the risk of repeating myself. The suspect that they chased down and shot himself just does not look like the killer from the live video capture. The video capture does not even look like a black man. I'm just not seeing a good match with the suspect.

The picture on the right is old, from at least two years ago ( when he was still at the station ).

This is apparently a picture he posted to social media just before the shooting.

I believe the poster is referring to the 23 pages the shooter faxed to the news station giving his point of view on some sort of subject matter.

Right, we would have to find out whether or not he lived in the area, or somewhere nearby; If he had been employed by that newsstation in the past, chances are he would have had access to some type of scheduling website or something, internal employee information, that would have given him access to place time and location.. Did he actually post a video on his own of the shootings? Do civilians have access to that video by chance?

I just want to know how you can make any definitive statement based on a blurry screen capture?

I thought the dude was white? When his twitter feed was up this morning I could have sworn his profile pic was of a white guy. I'm confused now.

Or he could have just decided that today was the day, followed either the camera man or reporter from home or work and that is (possibly) how he was there.

Looks aside, do you have any more information or a theory as to why "guy arrested yesterday" would have committed this?

Seems the current suspect has a whole lot of motive and connection to the victims.

ETA: I'm genuinely curious, because you seem pretty convinced about this other person being a probable suspect.

I was on his Twitter page when he posted both videos. At the time he was just a suspects name that popped up, so I began digging and happened to be there right when the first and second uploads happened.

We've got a video from the cameraman showing the shooting AND a video from the shooters POV. Seems fairly straight forward to me.

As for how he found the reporter? I used to live a block away from a TV station and it would have been nothing to simply park nearby and follow the first camera van that left for the day. It was a small building and it would have been easy to watch who was coming and going. There was zero security.

Condolences to their families.

To the anti-gun crowd using this to push their agenda: Why is it that you people always jump at a chance to do this? The bodies aren't even in the ground yet. Their families are just now coming to terms with what's happened, if they have come to terms with it at all. Here you are spouting off about guns and not the sick bastard that used one. Funny how people never say anything when there are stabbings, bombings, or people being run down by cars. Give it a rest. It's just sick.
