China fears a reunited Korea, which would happen if China pulled the plug on North Korea. They fear a successful democracy on their doorstep.

When I say "China", I mean the one party state run by the Communist Party. It is they who fear visible success and liberty. The North is just a buffer.

Right. Just like a guard dog. Kept, neglected, and poorly feed. Who's only purpose is to make loud noises.
