The majority of people in this nation are either living off the government or actively trying to destroy it.

Really? I think you might be exaggerating just a wee bit. The majority of the people I know are in neither of these categories.

Free trade is not a bad thing. Stop overreacting.

Wow, what an informed response. Glad you took 3 seconds to enlighten us all.

"Free Trade" huh??? Maybe you could follow that up with what exactly you consider "Free Trade" to be and how it applies here. How does "Free Trade" and the TPP compliment each other as far as policy goes??

Or maybe you could tell us why something called "Free Trade" would need so many rules and regulations behind it and be kept so secret from everyone while becoming law??? "Free Trade" would seem to be the opposite don't ya think???

What makes you think the TPP has anything to do with "Free Trade" at all???

Well, I suppose I must confess I haven't exactly taken a head count or anything so who knows for sure. But there are more people getting Gov. benefits now than in the past while at the same time polls show that Gov. has some of the lowest approval ratings too.

When I say Gov. benefits I'm talking about contracts, subsidies, welfare, SNAP, etc. I'm not trying to put the blame anywhere specific. Meanwhile you have Far Right Conservatives and Tea Party Members and Libertarians actively trying to downsize the Gov. in many ways. Unfortunately most common areas are education and some of those very same benefit programs I mentioned before. Although mostly just the ones that help people not corporations.

But then again maybe "the people you know" makes up a group of people that represent everyone in this nation and just by looking at your friends gives you a perfectly clear representation all 600 million or so people. I kind of doubt that but who knows, maybe you're a really popular person with a really diverse group of friends representing all the various social/economic groups.

A commercial comes to mind:
"What do you want on your tombstone?" (America)
This is truly depressing - as much as the news of Fukushima or Deepwater.
I really believe the effects will be that destructive and far reaching.
God help us all because the elites are helping themselves to everything not nailed to the floor.

Time is up.

So, you are saying that 300,000,001 people are living off of government handouts and/or want to destroy the government? That would be the majority, correct? I find that hard to believe based on the small percentage of average, plain 'ol American citizens that I deal with on a day to day basis.

When I stop for coffee at the corner store on the way to work each morning I have yet to hear anyone complaining about not getting their Gov't subsidies or how 'Murica sucks. Maybe I, and all the rest of the sheeple, should just keep our heads down and mouth shut because it's all over for us.

Nope, I'll get my coffee and honeybun and head off to work, enjoy my job, spend my check, and wake up the next day.

I try to stay out of politics, all the flashy talk falls deaf to my ears, I guess I probably should start start paying more attention. What is the TPP?, I'd watch the video but low on data. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

Seriously man??? I think you're missing the bigger picture here. That one statement has virtually nothing to do with the topic. How many people are getting benefits or wanting to remove Gov. programs was just one example I was making to illustrate how divided the country is and how we are constantly battling back and forth with each other. You know, how we argue over the insignificant things and are distracted from the bigger more important issues at work. Rather than take issue about it, if you don't agree, just ignore it then and pay attention to the point behind the OP.

Did you retain anything else from the video's or anything anyone else has said??? If so, maybe the next time you're getting that morning coffee at Starbucks with the other Average Joe's you may want to bring it up for discussion and see if anyone else has heard about it. But that's up to you. You can also just go about your day like none of it is happening if you'd like. It's your choice.

Perhaps my point could be explained better. You, personally, are part of the self-same system of which you are decrying. Unless you live completely off the grid and are totally self sufficient you contribute, and take from, our corporate olligarchy. If you weren't you wouldn't have the laptop on which you composed and posted this diatribe.

Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and just live.

The only thing that I might disagree with (and surprisingly, i'm on the same page as you!) is that the majority of Americans are indifferent.

They neither care about freedoms nor do they care about the freedoms lost.

If we had to have a new anthem, it's be "Apathy".

A new flag? No-one would even bother.

While we are all part of the system and structure of society. That doesn't mean we are all pushing for Corporate Control and Domination of it over us as a sovereign nation. It doesn't mean that I support the exploitation of people at the hands of a Corporate Rule that has placed itself above the law. It doesn't mean that I support the idea that those we partner with no longer have any say over the environmental laws or Worker Rights that they've chosen for themselves.

But I can see you're much happier simply not knowing any of this so you can go about your happy, coffee drinking day, spending your check and ignoring the rest. So fine. Go do it. I'm not stopping you. But you should first figure out WTF you're talking about before you imply that I'm personally involved in things which you know nothing about.

I'll ask you again. Did you watch the video??? Do you know what we are talking about??? Do you know what the TPP is about???

That's fine. I even admitted that myself. However, it's not complete apathy. They do seem to care a lot about the Kardashians, Football and the New Flavor of Coffee at the local Coffee shop. They just don't seem to care much about anything important which is unfortunate not just for them but for all of us that do care.

When it's a confederate flag or a Walmart shooting or Gay Cake the entire nation loses it's sh!t. But when it's a Fast Track Law being done on the sly giving Multinational Corporations a status above the law of all coalition nations that's when everyone decides to go back to sleep.

So whatever. Sweet dreams folks. Have fun explaining to your kids why you pissed away their futures and their freedom.

Yes, I know what TPP is about. I know that there is a 12 billion dollar Liquid natural gas plant being built right now by Chienere on the Texas coast to ship liquefied natural gas from Eagle Ford Shale gas production directly to Japan on the condition that TPP was passed. Our gov't streamlined allowing the sale of the nat gas to Japan as part of the TPP deal.

Americans couldn't waste their time about TPP.

Not when Cecil the lion was being shot!

Frankly, we get what we deserve. Sometimes even I want to go back to sleep and believe what the tv box is telling me.

I'd worry less and would be tweeting outrage over an unfair vote on American idol on my way to the gas chamber.

Give me the formaldahyde spray and I'll dust all those newly printed shirts and briefs and who cares! As long as I'm treated respectivley by nearly a dollar an hour to match the .25 cents an hour average for the rest of the people who don't buy in, I'll be rich compared to those suckers.

The coup d'etat...more power given over to the corporate elite. If we want it, we get it. Don't like it, see you in court America. If it hurts our profit or potential profit; we sue at taxpayer expense, over riding your mundane laws.

No GMO's

No Fracking

No Monsanto

No profits

Yeah right...

Now we're the boss, what we say goes, don't like it, to bad.

Step one done. Step two.....war.

What a bunch of cronies....

It's funny to me that you live with the benefits of a democratic capitalist society and whine and complain about it when those benefits are proposed for others. Why don't YOU read about how this will help countries that have historically been raped over trade disparity. I think you would rather spew fear from a position of ignorance instead. Why shouldnt other countries be allowed to prosper in areas of commerce they have long held zero leverage and been exploited?

Umm....

The same corporations that are pushing the trade agreements are also the same corporations that we whine and bitch about are also the same corporations that taped and pillaged these countries.

...and on the day the TPP went live, the PPT (Plunge Protection Team) had to be activated for the first time in some years to prevent the US Stock Market from crashing through multiple technical support levels. Coincidence?
