You are leaving out people who are para or quadriplegic. How dare you sub-divide people with your labels.

I really don't see that people are becoming less accepting of others nor their differences.
What I do see is the media trying to shove that misconception down our throats. The world is a far more accepting place than it was when I was growing up. But it makes for better ratings to keep stirring the pot and paint everyone as racist and bigoted.

It's so simple... If a 10-year old child born with male parts identifies as a girl, and the teacher says, "Boys over here and girls over there", that child is not going to be sure where to go and will likely get scolded if they stand with the girls, which will create embarrassment, shame, guilt and anger. And if they stand with the boys, will feel out of place, "wrong" and angry..

Addressing a classroom as "boys and girls" is on equal footing with fat-shaming somebody?
How about just "children"? "Children, it's time to get in line."
Perfectly fine. What's wrong with "boys and girls it's time to get in line" though?
ETA - I'll also point out the suggested phrase "friends." So what's next? Can't call 'em children because that might give them the idea that they're inferior to an adult somehow. Best to call them something totally neutral. "Alright, sentient beings! Recess is over, time to get in a line near the door, sentient beings! If that's okay with you, that is. As another sentient being, I certainly can't tell you what to do, sentient beings!" I like that more than my earlier suggestion of "comrade."

They can't control you if they can't identify/label you.
