I know it will be painful, and there will be suffering, but a part of me WANTS this rotten, corrupt rigged fiat financial system to come crashing down. Its the BEST hope we have of being forced to start over with something better. Maybe it will wake us out of the technological daze so many of us seem to be in.We are a society in love with fantasy and denial. It might be good for us to be forced to face a little harsh reality for once. It might wake us up enough to stop tolerating it. I think we NEED a dose of reality, and we need to relearn collective work. Hardship DOES breed character. Some of the finest people I met in my life were those who lived through the Great Depression. Some of the people I have met with the LEAST character are those who grew up after 1980. Not really their fault, they just haven't experienced adversity.

Not a prophet so I have no clue if or when any type of ele would happen. Even what the event would be. But I tend to agree with you, while the suffering would be a sad site to see I agree it might do everyone some good to face some severe adversity. My only thought on this is if it happens in the end whoever is left better have gotten out the corrupt, the bankers, the general scumbags, and others who can't function in civil society. This has nothing to do with race/religion/politics/sex. My guess is the people whose whole identity is based on these won't be the ones left.

You have proposed a thoughtful solution, which I do not believe will work. In a market economy, only market solutions will work. You are quite right about the increasing automation, yet the same thing was said about the first factories driving out labor. My proposal is to sharply cut the influx in legal immigration (because illegal immigration is something we can only slow down). The resulting relative shortage of labor will cause all wages to rise, and may even lead to the unionization of low-paying service jobs. This proposal is supported by Ann Coulter. Please don't jump on me for dropping her name; I do not agree with her on many things. But this is basic economics. Working within the capitalist system will serve us far better than the command economy you propose.

I definitely agree with you on cutting immigration, but eventually we will have to move to a more socialist system or the oligarchs will become full fledged aristocrats and we will all be peasants.

The US is still the worlds largest lender. As far as morals go, more people go to school today than ever before, there are fewer unwanted pregnancies, people are having sex later, violence is way down, murder is down, rape is down. On those metrics things are great.

China never devalued their Yuan. China indirectly devalued the US dollar. Before anything actually happened to the Chinese Yuan, the dollar went up. You now have to put more dollars on the table for a item you want to buy. This does not tell us that the dollar became stronger like the media explaines it. WHat it means is that the dollar just became a lot weaker.

China indirectly devalued the US dollar by putting US bonds on the market, and the Feds had to pay up.
