Aussies - I need your help!

Dear Friends:

I have an Australian email buddy who has been travelling the world lately. I believe one of her stops was going to be Thailand but I don't know when she was to end up there. I have emailed her and she has not responded. I'm American so, I don't know any of her Aussie friends. For those folks in Australia - is there a link or a way I can find out if she was there (God forbid!)?

Any help would be appreciated!

umm I really don't know what you can do in this situation, I'm not even
sure if we have a list of the missing as yet, although there has been a
few people mentioned.

I'm guessing you could try contacting Foreign Affairs and Trade or something.

If I find something I'll u2u if you like, can't promise much though.

here is a link to the immigration department, they might be able to see if she has come into the country...www.immi.gov.au, contact # 61-2-13881,

only problem is that it is going to be closed until like the 3rd of Jan, American counsulate as well, here are there details...# 61-2-9373-9200

you might want to try the Sydney Airport and see if they can track her on the flight if you know that info...contact # 61-2-9667-9111

the lady on the hotline said you can ring direct using the country code +61 or if you can't get through she said i can ring back on your behalf.

If you can't get through message me some details and I will do what i can to help inclding trying to ring her for you direct if you like.


I can not believe that telstra gave me the right number first go..That is a first for them.

so let's all hope she finds her friend.

Thanks for all your help! I have emailed CNN. I'm going to wait a few days before making calls as her travels were bringing her to a Buddist monistary so, she may not have access to a computer. Will let you know when I get an answer!

It is very likely that she is alive. Thousands of australians were in the area but only 11 or so have died. So the chances are good for survival.

My friend just wrote me and told me she is back in Austrailia. Her trip to Thailand was cancelled.
