Scientists Discover Fossil of Snake Ancestor... with FOUR LEGS?

Hey! Sorry I've been away from ATS for a while, I've been pretty busy

So I was doing what I normally do and reading the news at breakfast, and I found this:

A 113-million-year-old fossil from Brazil is the first four-legged snake that scientists have ever seen. Several other fossil snakes have have been found with hind limbs, but the new find is estimated to be a direct ancestor of modern snakes.

What do you guys think? Interesting find?

So, if a snake has legs then you'd also expect a pelvis of some type?
Also, if a snake has legs then it would walk instead of slither. But I'm only speculating here.
They found a #ing lizard didn't they....

OMG your avatar is absolutely brilliant, the funniest I have seen.

The only comment I am going to make on this thread is thank goodness that creature died out because imagine it today as a long anaconda.

If you care to read the article, it should be evident that it is not possible to walk with those legs, but slither.
But yes, you can call it a lizard. We, not nature, have categorized animals. We see a predecessor to what we call a snake, not a "snake"-snake.

this is not new information in terms of knowing snakes had legs., its been quite common knowledge that snakes have sockets where legs should go but don't have any legs as we know it.

they would of de-evolved if that's the correct term and just slither away. nice to see a picture of it though

some modern snakes have vestigial limb structures. an anaconda does if i remember right.
