Japanese rock band broadcasts beheading film at concert.

"Showing this kind of video in public can never be forgiven on humanitarian grounds," the network said in a statement.

"As the sponsor, we offer deep apologies to the family of (Shosei) Koda, people who came to the concert and other people concerned," the statement said, without naming the band that showed the video.

Footage of Islamic militants decapitating the 24-year-old backpacker was shown on a large screen during Sunday's concert in Urayasu, the city east of Tokyo that hosts Tokyo Disneyland.

This is outrageous in my opinion. While the Tokyo Broadcasting System state they had no warning surely someone could have turned off the large screen, seeing as the footage was running for ten minutes.

Doesn't it all depend on the context in which the video was shown? It could very well have been a tribute, or a rememberance. It's impossible to tell what the point of showing the video was from the article. I don't think you should jump to conclusions about the band or the show before knowing for sure what their intent was.

I'm a bit confused though I read the article I have no idea what the name of the band is, could someone please tell me, the reason I would like to know is because though I am american I listen to J-Rock.

My first reaction was "You must be kidding. Context? Get real."

But then I thought about it and decided that maybe showing the video would do some good if it raises public awareness about what those animals are capable of.

Not sure if the family of the man executed would thank whoever was responsible for showing it as a "tribute" or an act of "rememberance"

We all use the internet , and have access to these barbaric films. Its up to us if we decide to watch them. Being amongst 100's of people at a concert, im not sure if they had any choice in weather or not they watched it unless they turned away.

To be totaly honest, i think it was in bad taste showing it.

those kind of videos should be broadcasted on a regular base on TV, IMO.
they show the true face of islamic fundamentalists. when people say doubleju is a fundamentalist show them the real threat, those reckless murders, killing in the name of there god are the real threat to this world!

i have no problems with peaceful moslems, but those bastards and there followers have no place on this world at this time, they are a desease and shall be extinguished.
