Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has asked India to invest in infrastructure projects worth $8 billion, including an expanded role in developing a strategic port that will open up access to Central Asia, according to Iran's envoy to New Delhi on Friday

Under the new proposal India could help build second and third terminals at the port, as well as railway connections into the rest of Iran, Ansari said.

India has moved slowly on opportunities in Iran in the past, including the giant Farzad B gas field. Ansari said India was the "first priority" to develop Farzad B, but urged New Delhi to move fast

India has had a long relationship with Iran. But as Iran opens up to the world we see countries directly competing in Iran. This port along with the road and proposed railway projects by India inside Iran will draw the attention of China as they too have a similar project inside Pakistan and will be competing with it for access to central Asia.

This road and railway link will connect India to Afghanistan via Iran. Both Pakistan, China and the west compete for influence there.

India also has a project to connect the roadways in Iran to Russia and central Asia for trade.

We should also keep in mind that India shares a very good relations with Israel. Wonder how these developments will change that.

How do you all predict the development in middle east following the lifting of sanctions.

Great, infrastructure projects create jobs and stimulate the economy with the added benefit of eventually increasing the GDP. I am not surprised at all that this is some of the first actions of the government and this just goes to show that Israel's Nutyahoo was and is just simply fear mongering.

Central Asia will fulfill it's destiny and become very important not only in trade but also, increase in non Western strategic importance in the years/decades to come.

In central Asia, only Kazakistan has that capacity plus Iran in the middle east. But please do correct me if I am wrong.

True

Central Asia could potentially be a hub in which Russia, India and China may work together strategically away from Western influence. The region is rich in natural resources, that all parties *Including Iran by default, can and will imho, exploit and benefit.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has asked India to invest in .....

This request supports the claim that I have read on the Jimstone website that in return for this 'deal' only the millittree sanctions against Iran have been lifted not the economic sanctions.

This is how the US uses economic, finance and millittree weapons to cease and retain control over over countries, including their 'allies' and their 'partners'.

I really doubt India will move against the west or western influence. India has excellent relations with the US, EU and Israel. Infact it has border disputes with China and could possibly act as counter balance to China in the future.

India, like China, Looks out for their own interests.

Trade is good business, which only strengthens their stance against China. "Away from Western Influence" means just that, it doesn't mean they'll "Move against the West" just that there is a whole other world that could be developed away from Western Influence...
