Life is a Joke

I feel my laughing cascade down
the joy I feel all the way to the ground,
shimmering colors and angelic sounds
paint my face with a smile.

I allow myself to taste the laughter,
sweet on my tongue I swallow it all,
like spring water it satisfies my thirst
and out of my belly a stream flows.

I heave up my restraint
with unfettered release.
I allow my forgotten giggle
to take its rightful place.

I am alone, but I laugh with everyone
I join the merriment with abandon.
My soul is once more awakened
and I know I am alive.

What's so funny you ask?
Why just about everything I reply.
From birth to death
from breath to breath.

Life is a joke so don't forget to laugh.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! I have found this to be the way I write. I have no formal training but this style seems to fit who I am.

Of course you probably know this already, at least I can tell by your writing style, that every word should tell a story or put a mental picture in the readers mind.

I'm more of a songwriter, but in the past I've told hundreds of stories on the whim to Japanese school children in the classroom, all done in English. So I kind of used the "pictured" and the word should tell a story style of storytelling also.

Hope to see more of your writing.
