A very Vivid Dream

I have only had one very vivid dream in my life and it was a few years ago now, but it still sticks in my memory.

I'm in a forest, I can hear lots of other people stumbling around and shouting and trying to find their way out although I cant see them. Suddenly I break out into a clearing, there are a few others and a dirt track leads away into the forest. After a few minutes a car arrives, I can only describe it as looking similar to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the car from the film. A driver wearing a Chauffeurs hat is gesturing for us to get in, I sit in the back perched high up.

We are now away from the forest and driving along a tarmacced road on both sides of which is tall golden barley or wheat or whatever it is farmers grow. the sun is rising and the whole vista takes on a golden glow, absolutely beautiful.

We are now approaching a village, think of the village of the Munchkins out of Wizard of Oz with lots of strange looking people similar to Munckins. They are all waving flags, hanging out of upstairs windows cheering as we pull up. In the centre of the village a stage has been built and waiting for us on the stage is a man, perhaps the mayor.

It is my turn to go up on the stage and confront the man, he asks me a question, a simple question to which the answer is yes or no. I become upset, embarressed, my answer is not the one they all want to hear but I couldnt bring myself to tell the truth. The cheering fades, the village and the people fade.

I wake up feeling desolate, it takes me weeks to shake the depression.

Fantastic dream, thanks for sharing.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get over the depression? Did you just wait it out and suffer, or did you take active steps towards ameliorating that condition?

Fear of rejection, maybe. That what you are doing in real life isn't acceptable. Like in the family, at work or circle of friends, maybe.

Akin to dreaming of being naked in public, this sounds like you are worried about being exposed or that you don't fit in. its a common theme, lots of people have this type of dream.

The moment that everyone expects an answer you don't want to give… or your answer is the wrong answer, thats the issue you have. All the rest is like you said, fantastical, like OZ in a movie.

Window dressing.

It may just be some small thing you are over reacting to or a real issue in the world you are facing.

By the by, if you are comfortable with it, I don't want you to share something you are uncomfortable with, what was the question and the answer you couldn't give (the truth as you put it).

I just waited it out, my wife noticed I was down, eventually normal life gives you other stuff to be thinking about.

At the time I didn't have a clue what the question was or why I was embarrassed to give the right answer. Since then life took a turn for the worse and my life came crashing down.

I think I know now, it was a small silly thing I did in my twenties, that finally caught up with me. Luckily I had friends and family that knew there was more good in me than bad and I was no longer that stupid 20 something year old.

People live, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes and become better people. A black part of my soul has been seared out and I am by far a better person for it.

There it is, a crisis of conscience that became so prevalent it entered your dreams, since been resolved.

If true, I declare you human.

Carry on.

More cake with no frosting. Please, I may have missed this, but what was the question and answer? If you don't mind, of course.

I dont know what the question was, it was something that embarrassed me enough to try to lie in front of everyone. Now years later after the dream and after recently being put through the mill over something I did a long time ago perhaps it was my conscience. I have now paid dearly for that mistake but I now know who my real friends are and I am rebuilding my life.

The people that used that mistake against me did a far worse thing, through greed, envy, jealousy and blackmail they stole a business I built from scratch for 20 years and destroyed their own family relationships. Now perhaps they are beginning to realise the stress and pressures I went through and that money isn't everything.
