Some good points there, Ketsuko. Trump will probably do okay on it, but the issue gets socially complicated. Here in the US Southwest, and also in the
West, where all the places have Spanish/Indian names, there's a concept that Latino is US American. You might have neighbors who's families are
descendants of conquistadors who named the places hundreds of years ago. In other areas, you have a feeling of Latino as foreigners, that identity is
tied to Mexico in their minds. Smart folks like you and wise politicos zoom in specifically on the immigration which is separate from all of it, but
others mix in the culture aspect, and it stirs up a culture war pot with America's huge amount of legal, native latinos in the west and southwest,
that gets tied to the immigration issue. When that happens, its a mess, and doesn't bode well for a candidate.
