There are some threads on this and I wondered where ATS stands on this, is it banned or allowed on ATS?

How about other flags, are there any flag bans on ATS?

Just wondering.

Way to kick the hornets nest, truth. Will we need a disclaimer in the future?

"The opinions of those who wave the confederate flag do not represent the opinions of ATS or it's affiliates."

That's what it's coming to. The confederate flag committed no crime, just like every other flag. If people commit crimes then those charges should be laid upon them, not the flag.

I agree, I just wrote about all flags would need banning if they ever offended anybody.

IMO the confederate flag shouldn't be banned in the US either as it is about the civil war and other things than slavery.

I just wondered. I have seen a lot of hypocrisy on ATS recently.

The U.S is the only nation to use atomic weapons against another nation. If the confederate flag can be banned due to the actions of their creators then logic dictates that we should ban the American flag as well.

But the American flag played no part in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, So where do we go from here?

The confederate flag isn't banned in the US.

Or on ATS, as far as I know... It's not in the T&C. If I were curious about it I would have asked a mod.

Except for it being painted on the actual munitions... Aka nukes... Courtesy of the air force.

Apple has banned apps and games that use the confederate flag- a knee jerk reaction to the recent events in Charleston.

I wanted to know and think it is worth other members knowing.

I have seen a lot of posts being removed for not agreeing to an opinion and some bans for opinions even though I have seen worse opinions not being banned.

Members should be aware to prevent being banned.

Perhaps. But Apple is not "The US". Carry on, though. I'm out.

Very well, but apple represents the the free enterprise and that is not on the flag-it is written, signed and shredded, the american flag had nothing to do with their market share.

A flag is a flag-nothing more, nothing less. All those salute the flag are not serving a flag, they are serving the country. But apparently that's not the way it works anymore, The flag is an inanimate object, whether people choose to follow it is up to them.

The confederate flage is a symbol of treason against America and the murder of it's citizens. That's the real reason the flag shouldn't be celebrated and glorified on public land. The attacks purpitrated by the south were committed against America. They renounced their citizenship and took up arms against the loyal American soldiers killing thousands.

Forget civil rights, or slavery or how people feel about it. That's the real court of law truth. The south was a bunch of traitors who attacked America. Not a bunch of honerable Americans defending America.

Can we just burn them all to a crisp and get on to things that really matter?

I quit watching news to try and take in things that are more important.

Thing is, even the "alternative" news ends up one way or another getting impressions from the MSM.

I come onto ATS trying to get fresh perspectives, but it's the same story. People keep remolding the same thoughts and flicking them back on each other.

It was never the word, or the symbol, it was the meaning we impressed upon it. Guess my meaning is impressed elsewhere.

Flagging Interest

Nothing in the terms & conditions, and none that I know of -- and they usually tell me about these sorts of things.

I also don't see anything in the Avatar and Signature Guidelines or the New Rules for Avatars and Mini-Profile Backgrounds prohibiting it, either.

So I guess the short answer is "nope".

Having said that, I hate closing threads, but this one already seems destined to become a Social Issues thread rather than a BB&Q thread, so before that goes too far along, I'm going to close it.

I do, however, encourage anyone interested in the subject to discuss it in any of the existing threads in other forums, or start a new thread if you see the need.

And as always, all opinions expressed in accordance with the terms & conditions are always welcome, so please don't be shy about sharing yours, whatever they may be.
