I found this amazing image of what looks like a dome in a crater on Mars.

Have any of you seen this before?
Is there an official explanation for what we are seeing?

Yes probably, but it really gives the impression of a hemisphere.

That is intriuging-it looks like a perfect semi submerged sphere.
It seems to have a uniform pattern on the surface as well.
Very weird,and unlike the more common "spire" formations we sometimes see in the center of craters(which are the remains of whatever chunk of rock created the crater as I understand it).
This looks very different.

Good find-I would love to see a closer higher resolution image of the crater.

Edit: Hmm,looks like dunes in the pic posted by Gortex.

The picture posted by Gortex is a beauty, it almost looks fake I'm intrigued.

It Is fake (in a sense). It's a false colour image, which provide much more useful scientific data than true colour images. Don't forget, space probes and rovers/landers are scientific instruments, not tourists!

Looks like one of the Dune Sandworms !

Looks to me like a small comet or asteroid crash landed, didn't disintegrate, and over the eons has been covered with sand. Must have been a really dense object, or it didn't slam into the planet fast enough to crumble..or both.

Cool image. Anyone else noticed how the bottom part of the dune looks like a voronoi diagram? Interesting!

well its definitely a dune! at least its not a rock I suppose
