(CNN)Albert Woodfox, who's spent more than four decades in solitary confinement for a crime he's long argued he didn't commit, might soon set foot outside prison.
U.S. District Judge James J. Brady ruled Monday that Woodfox, 68, should be released from prison and should not face a third trial due to "exceptional circumstances," including his age and poor health and the court's "lack of confidence in the state to provide a fair third trial."
Woodfox, 68, is the last imprisoned member of the so-called Angola 3, prisoners who were accused in the 1972 killing of guard Brent Miller at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola.
At one time I supported capital punishment, however as I get older and witness so many on death row released after DNA or other actions I no longer support giving the government the right to kill a citizen.

It's bloody disgusting and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he's gone completely insane from it.

I heard this on the radio (KPFK) new this morning. They went on to say that Mr. Woodfox had been tried twice on the murder of the prision worker and both times the case had been thrown out. The 'State' wants to try him again, finally the courts have said they could not hence his release.

I only feel sympathy if he's truly innocent. Otherwise, who the hell cares what happens to murderers...
