As has been mentioned, there is a large percentage of the worlds population that put the USA in that category but I am guessing USA hate is not allowed.

Debating semantics of this to the "nth" degree for the sake of it is pointless.

It's happening. I'm sure if you fall foul of it the reason why will be explained to you at the time.

You are missing the point by miles, what you think is trash and perfectly correct to call that way is not a universal constant, for example a big part of the world have been affected by the acts of USA, and they would add them to that list of perfectly acceptable to insult groups.

Therefore decorum

It won't be when used to degrade specific members or to disrupt the conversation by being snarky.

The OP included nationality.

I am neither pro Nazi nor pro ISIS, nor anti USA.

However, it has to be said, there are a lot of nations that despise the USA that aren't pro ISIS using the very words you called ISIS as describing the USA, maybe their village was bombed or they are angry about USA policy, Iraq etc.

Who gets to decide which is okay to hate on ATS?

It was the "Wild West" nature of ATS years ago that brought me here. You have slowly killed it. If that is bringing the owner money then go with it. I disapprove.

Not a single person who thinks Nazis or ISIS are heroes, deserves to be a member here.

Well as the sites motto is deny ignorance its would be counter productive too include two of mankinds most ignorant groups.

This is pointless unless you get rid of some of the mods that actively contribute. Therein is the problem.

I am not asking because of lack of understanding or potentially saying something offensive, it is a matter of ethics.

A question of ethics on 'who is okay to hate on ATS?'

I'd hazard a guess that America (the U.S.) would be off limits as a nationality to hate...

But there may be leniency with government decisions being generalised?

Of course I'll need mod confirmation of such...

My own example would be Zionism...

If I say Zionism is detrimental to peace world wide am is skirting the edges...

& if for such an opinion I'm labelled anti-Semitic will that also be skirting the edges...

Or are both off limits?

I'm getting confused now I guess.

I don't think I'm missing the point.

ISIS isn't a country. It doesn't contain 320 million tax paying citizens who obviously don't have a personal hand in the destructive actions of its government.

The "people" of the USA are not an organized group of people. Every member of ISIS has a hand in their actions.

Its OK to hate the US Gov. It's not OK to hate all Americans.

Its OK to hate ISIS. Not OK to hate all Muslims.

Obviously within the criteria we've established in the T&C.

But again saying you despise the whole USA is a blanket genralisation that covers innocent people.

Americans as a whole are not evil war mongers, only a select group.

Your typical American is not running around beheading people and brutalizing women as part of there daily routine.

The site T&C as interpreted by the staff, under the guidance of the site owners drives the ethics.

That and a fairly hefty degree of common sense and common decency.

Nobody... you can dislike, be disgusted by and be driven to vomit by what you read on here, but you can't attack the individual who posts those things themselves... only state your own opinion on why you had to puke.

There's no 'hate' in giving an honest opinion.

The problem, as I see it, is the same as it is with 'love'. You can love a cup of coffee and hate a tree that drops sticky crap on your car, but that doesn't really describe what hate and love truly are, does it?

Your avatar is offensive to all Americans who fought against you in The Great Revolutionary War Against Freedom From The Tyrant King George III.

*sob*

As a trans-biased-lupine, I feel offended.

But am still fluffy.

I know that.

However, some guy that had his house bombed while watching American TV in Iraq, might see 'Americans' as supporting a regime.

Same as Charlie mentioned, Zionism, might be destructive in the most widespread way, it is a select group to which many knowingly or otherwise are part of, they might not be savages running amok but more destructive by greed or stealth, some might see it like that.

Just pointing out the flaws of a selective system of hate.

Look at it this way, it seems to work for me, any way...

If you're upset with the actions of the Israeli govt. you're OK. If you stereotype Jews as all supporting Zionist Israel, you're skirting the edge, IMHO. If you refer to Jews as **derogatory terms** who should **whatever**, you've crossed it, and are likely going to be informed of your error.

I know about the 'not being personal' part but I am pointing out the flaws in a selective hate system that might be encountered.

Apparently giving an ''honest opinion'' is not okay if it is not PC.

You are missing the point...

oh and Americans don't have a hand on government actions but every single ones of the people that live under crazy ass terrorist by force do, all of them, not a single one can be innocent, nope no never, i don't care about them but it just seems as such a strong bias

last time i say it, decorum, don't insult anyone because only degrades our self the members of ATS, so no its not ok to insult nazis, you can show how low they are without resorting to insults
