As a staff member

Wishing people dead/calling them subhuman/abominations because they have a different religion, skin colour or sexual identity (or even political affiliation, come from a different county and/or sometimes simply have a different opinion is NOT the ATS way.

And thats what we're talking about here. Hate for hates sake.

That should not be difficult to understand for anyone.

I assume I can still call monsters like ISIS sub human abominations and wish the entire group dead?

Glad to see the hammer coming down... it's been long overdue.

I've only been here for 4 years, but these past few months or so I've actually stepped back and became more of an observer rather than a participant because I just got so fed up with the venomous vitriol being spewed in every direction... that's not the ATS I know and love.

Angry opinions is one thing and to be expected, but outright blatant hatred (directed individually or at a generalized group) are a whole other ball game and not conducive to a happy forum community.

So thank you for this.

Let's hope the hammer sticks.

If all is seen how could there be "an agenda driven moderator?" Cripes.

'Respectfully,' you are one of them.

Really not a fair analogy. EVERYONE hates me.

Again, I don't Storm, & I feel your discontent with the Christian bashing tbh.

I've noticed how it's had you around lot less, pisses me off to see good members driven away by vitriol.

And starting today, we hope the opposite happens.

I know the religious discussions are ugly.

Too ugly. I hope some don't find themselves surprised when we start spending more time reading those discussions.

I'm guilty of being hard on them and I can admit that. And I can also do better.

I shall. Let's hope everybody else does the same.

That's an organization steeped purely in hate. And much like supporting Hitler, that ideology or support thereof isn't welcome.

I don't think any alerts will go up about that.

Here's a thought though...

Can I still say I want ISIS/Paedophiles dead while generalising...

I am as liberal as they come...

But not that liberal.

That ''hate'' to some is a religion to others, how do you discriminate?

Corrupt individuals, corrupt organisations, who gets to decide which is okay to hate?

I do not follow any religion, my opinions of them are objective as part of the bigger picture, however if you look deep enough into their texts, most say heinous things about how to treat non followers of their religion so they could all be seen as hateful, some are well known for having their own 'none to respectful' names and ideologies regarding others that aren't them.

If you ban criticism of one yet allowing others, is that not hypocrisy?

Same as you man, I don't hate anyone.
Hate is an overused word I think these days though, almost like it now means just disagreeing with someone.
I like that mods here tend to see through that silliness.

That's what I think to be honest buddy.

In fact although I've noticed a rise in "hate", so to speak, I wouldn't say it hasn't been dealt with properly...

I guess there is just less of us who would click the alert button all that often.

Yeah I think we've all done it to some group at some stage...

But we are all still here...
So it couldn't have been hate filled...

We just have to learn from our generalisations I guess.

Sorry man but I laughed out loud when I read that!
I enjoy your input in UK threads, even when we disagree, it's honest, real, and consistent...same with most of the UK contingent, nice one.

Its pretty easy to work out mate.

If they are going round commiting mass crimes and horrendous acts then I think its safe to hate on them.

Say all muslems are (insert insult) would be a t&c no no

To say all ISIS are evil scum is fine.

One is a blanket statement that unfairly covers innocents the other a true fact about some evil people.

I think we can all agree that ISIS and Nazis sorta made that decision for us.

As do most other large groups that are generalized about on the boards. Society at large looks at their actions and says " wow, murdering scum".

The personal hatred , the way we speak to and about each other is what needs to change.

I think you are making a mistake and should ask for decorum, the heroes for some are the villains for others and a big part of the world would add USA to that prestigious list of organizations that have made that decision for us.

It was an example.

In my mind there isn't any difficulty discerning good from bad, those worthy of hate from those not worthy of hate, but in the greater plan of things, there are a lot of beliefs on ATS and there are grey areas, chances are there will be hypocrisy under a selective notion of 'ok to hate' because people have different opinions. People will demand 'human rights' aspect of opinion.

You only need mention immigration on ATS and within 5 minutes there's an accusation of racism.

Not a single person who thinks Nazis or ISIS are heroes, deserves to be a member here.
