The Sin City tales are absolutely my favourite comic books of all time, so I really hope they don't mess this up. I don't care much for Robert Rodrigez so that had me a bit concerned, but then it turns out Frank Miller who wrote the comics also co-directed, and I also hear that Quentin Tarantino directed one or two scenes although I have no idea how true that is.

The film was shot entirely against a green screen with the backgrounds being added later, and there is a host of talents onboard...I'm just worried that the Noir that comes over so well in the comics will come over kind of cheesy in the film. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Check it out!

Sure, here's a site that should bring you up to speed on all that is Sin City.

hem.passagen.se...

The thing about it is that there is no character running right throughout the series (although some characters do pop back up), it's just about all the mirky tales that take place within the City so there's no way of actually saying what it's 'about'. Each time it's a different tale...however the style is always the same, which is very Noir, and it is very adult orientated.

There are no super-heroes or anything in case you were wondering. My understanding is that they're taking 3 stories from the series for the film, and one story will lead into the next.

Oh...and for anyone who's interested here is the 5 min short Rodriguez made as a 'promo' to Frank Miller to hopefully get his permission to make a feature of the Sin City stories. He made it entirely out of his own money and said if Miller didn't like it at least he'd have a cool short to show friends. This scene will now open the film, plus it also has a few other clips from it.

Check here

Looking at it initially worried me as a result of what I said earlier, not knowing if the noir of the comics is going to come across cheesy or not which I kind of felt it did here. However, this soon washed over when I realised Josh Hartnett is the definition of wooden acting, and likely it is he who is cheesy and not the material...I hope.
Plus he just looks too young for this kind of thing, when he says "care for a smoke" I just wanted to slap him and tell him to get home to his mother.

If you get a chance...read the graphic novels before you see the movie...maybe it will make the movie even cooler...seen the trailer for it and it looks like an amazing transition....

I am really looking forward to this movie. It looks just like the book, black, white and red. I hope it does really well in the theater. The movie going crowd really needs to see Frank Miller's mind. I am glad to the fact that Miller is co-directing with Rodriguez. Even if it doesn't receive well in the theaters I know I will like it.

I'm really looking forward to this one.
I haven't seen a good film in a while, and this looks like it may fit that bill.

This one came out of left field on me and I can't wait to see it. I thought I was watching a commercial for a new video game when I saw the trailer.
