Received my notice that my Obamacare insurance information has been stolen and everything from SS number to ID's Birth date everything taken!

Health insurer Premera Blue Cross was the target of a major cyberattack, and personal or health data for as many as 11 million people may have been compromised, the company announced Tuesday.

Premera said Tuesday hackers gained "unauthorized access" to its systems in a "sophisticated attack" that began May 4, 2014. Just last month, health insurer Anthem disclosed a major breach that may have affected as many as 80 million records.
The Premera attackers may have accessed several types of data for 11 million individuals, including: name, date of birth, Social Security number, mailing address, email address, telephone number, member identification number, bank account information, and claims information, including clinical information.

I was one of those Blue X subscribers that received a letter notifying me that my information was compromised. After an identity theft incident 4 years ago, I took actions(to the best of my ability) to decrease the chances of being victimized again.

Guess it's time to embrace the suck again.

This is why I don't do traditional banking or link my other accounts with each other. With IRS, I do paper and submit via U.S. Mail. With insurance...well, I never go to the doctor. My dentist or eye doc, that might worry me.

Some us are forced to E-file state taxes, not sure how many now. I hate all of the paper but this has been a mess, a lot of fraud going on.

Trust me, dealing with the fallout of stolen ID can take months, even years to overcome. I was lucky--notified early, was able to safeguard the rest of my stuff. I can't stress enough for people to be proactive and protect yourself as much as possible to limit the damage.

Personally, I would like for the criminals who commit identity theft to be locked away for a long time--the recidivism rate according to LE data is high. The damage they do at times outweighs the current sentence structures.

I certainly agree, I have read some accounts and it is a life destroyer!
