A Swedish university student has designed a proposed flag for Earth, which he envisions as the symbol for all earthlings as they visit other planets.
The International Flag of Planet Earth is Oskar Pernefeldt's graduation project for his bachelor's degree from Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. It consists of seven white interlocking rings forming a flower on a blue background.
"Current expeditions in outer space use different national flags depending on which country is funding the voyage," wrote Pernefeldt in his proposal.
"The space travelers, however, are more than just representatives of their own countries," he wrote. "They are representatives of planet Earth."
