These trade deals are nothing but trouble. Many of our US states are passing laws to prevent jurisdiction falling under "international Law" and I hope every state does it. Soon, policy making will be done by an unelected international court which will favor the mega corps. So much for safety regulations.

Report details how corporate lobbyists mobilized to stop the EU from regulating hormone disrupting chemicals known to have significant health and environmental impacts
by Deirdre Fulton, staff writer

Under pressure from the U.S. and agrochemical industry lobbyists and amid ongoing negotiations for a controversial trade deal, the European Union dropped planned rules that could have led to the banning of 31 pesticides containing hazardous chemicals, a new investigative report has revealed.

The probe, led by the Brussels-based research and watchdog group Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO) and French journalist Stephane Horel, exposes how corporate lobby groups like the American Chemistry Council, CropLife America, and the American Chambers of Commerce, mobilized to stop the EU from taking action on hormone (endocrine) disrupting chemicals (EDCs)—known to have significant health and environmental impacts.

The TTIP is a corporate-friendly trade deal, currently being negotiated between the U.S. and the European Union, that is already opposed by environmental, food safety, and labor groups for its lack of transparency, corporate concessions, and negative implications for people and the planet.

TTIP is very fishy deal inteed. I wrote a thread about this almost two years ago in here at ATS. TTIP is a deal which allows not only Toxins but also pesticides ( yes Monsanto ) and GMO ( again Monsanto ) food to enter in European tables. There has been increase of some GMO stuff already in EU but in EU it is very important that there is transparency in labeling so if product includes GMO ingredients it is clearly stated, US lobbyist are against transparency and against REACH enactment ( Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals ) REACH has been one issue why TTIP has nt been signed even it has been on the table two decades by now.
And sadly it looks like there is huge cover up and i wouldn´t be surprised if EU decision makers has been bought either. Some GMO food has already brought here pretty much in silent ( some deals have been made already to allow this ) and GMO livestock feed has been already been used in Denmark etc TTIP is one road to universal money union US and EU. There is so much what is behind this .. its like a Twilight Zone.

TTIP allows national security and health and safety reasons to be used to block implementation of specifics in the agreement, if so would be the case. I.e. US chlorine doped chickens, hormone filled beef and Monstanto genemodified korns will never enter EU market space. Likewise, European medtech products need still to comply with FDA, mil-products DOD-stuff, etc etc.

No worries from the technical barriers. I am more concerned with the same stuff as everybody else - what the hidden deals mean for exchange of security related intel.

I am not concered of enforcement corporate rights since it is de facto in place already through bilateral agreements. And world is still there...

The big corporations are using improper evidence to show their food chemicals are safe. They say that we here in America have been eating them for a while and we have no problems. But look around you. There are so many people on meds that I can't figure out how this is, unless it is in the food chemistry. Not many people who eat organic as half their diet are taking meds. In fact the people at our food coop are in excellent health with no pills other than a few supplements.

There are so many people I know on antidepressants and antihistamines that it is rare not to see someone who is not having problems. The government is having everything blamed on viruses, but what is lowering our immunity to viruses as a general population. Every time someone goes to the doctor with flu like symptoms it is blamed on a virus but not the flu. Now they used to call everything that was not a bacteria a flu virus long ago, but now they distinguish them better. But think of this, the flu has been reduced over the years, possibly because many viruses were called the flu when they weren't even the flu in the past. Thirty years ago they had no way of testing the flu economically, let alone forty years ago.

The evidence is all messed up. The people making food chemicals and pharmacuticals have been twisting the truth ever since I can remember. They seem to think we are all dumb and now they are targeting Europe. I thought Europe was trying to clean up their act, they just hit an all time low in my thoughts. Someone got BSed to believe a lie.

I suppose since everyone is sick here, they might as well be sick in Europe also. It will create a lot of medical jobs in their countries. They can raise their taxes to fifty percent of what everyone makes to cover the extra medical costs. It is long term anyway, it will take over five years before anything starts showing up, they won't even remember the change then. They will be looking in a different direction. Endocrine disruption usually takes a few years to show up as a major issue.
