We lead the world in military spending and incarceration.

I guess that is stuff to be proud of.
/shrug

And since when does the ability to gorge your self with food equal success?
Is that our measuring stick?

I hope not.

Why do you always have to go off topic to attempt to prove a point?

I can only assume that you can't answer actual questions asked of you. Or do you believe every random site that post something on the Internet?

Using food as an example of success may have been a poor choice of words but the fact we can eat a good meal shows the standard of living here is waaay above a lot of other countries out there. And no our incarceration rate is nothing to be proud of neither is our military budget but that's not what this thread is about.

Besides the OP's statement about the position of the US. Any chance you could show me statistics and how they were proven or do you just take random sources as gospel?

It's no secret we have been ranked rather low in our math and reading scores in the past so this new ranking doesn't really sway me in any direction. The post you just quoted of mine should be indication enough that I understood your original meaning. I just don't agree that it's a good stance to take nor something to think of as a consolation prize.

What am I saying??? It's completely obvious by your history that you take any opinion you agree with him believe it.

I had to exit out of my reply to see who it was that even posted this thread. I really don't have any strong opinions on the person who started this thread (no offense, OP). If there's a history you found between the two of us, I'm unaware of it.

So your claim is that the ranking is flawed?
yourlogicalfallacyis.com...

I would think an intelligent poster like your self would be able to show it.

The point was on topic, just cause we say so doesn't make it true.
Just look at your education.

Like I asked earlier and everyone ignores. Show me the sources of how your data was concluded or do you just believe anybody's random opinion off the Internet?

I agree you can make whatever statement you want but can you backed them with factual information? By the way I would split your post up also but the ease of this reply does not require me to.

As for your what comment. Maybe you should've read the thread, nothing delights me more than to have defeated someone so bad in their opinion that they resort to arguing with voice dictation.

I've seen you do this repeatedly try to switch the burden of proof. Do you have that stupid link on favorites?

All I'm asking is the OP made a claim prove it.

Yes, I would agree it was a poor choice of words.
The thing is, not everyone in our country is able to eat a good meal. Yes, there are some that can, that doesn't mean all of our nation can.
You brought up that america was a top power, I just said what it was at the top at.

May be a stretch, but I don't see bringing up rankings in other categories as to off topic in this thread.

Yea cause it is a reasonable link to present...
Those 10 simple rules of debating are widely used and accepted.

The OP presented his sources, you seem to dispute them.

That does in fact put the burden of proof on you.

So what is Americas true education rank according to Greathouse?

So you can't back a random sources claims ? What a surprise?

If you knew anything about the debate process you would know to never let anyone put you on the defensive?

But the ball is in your court sunshine prove your claims.

Not everyone here can live comfortably but compared to most of the world I'd say we have it good. I grew up on food stamps so i understand a lot of people here are struggling, but the fact we have welfare and food stamps and unemployment oh and.section 8 housing are things that put us way above other nations out there.

I don't really care if that report was made up by a 5-year-old. Nothing I responded to relied on the accuracy of that report. I responded to you and your meaning behind your post. I actually got it. I understand your meaning behind having excess despite our under-educated populace.

Where we differ is that you think that our excess is something like a valid rebuttal and I think it is just indicative of our deeper problems.

And I still don't understand what you meant by the last statement. Are you saying you are using voice dictation to post? Awesome. If so, it's one of the better demonstrations I've seen of it. Last time I tried that, it couldn't understand a freakin' word I was saying.

In any case, I don't care about this ranking system. For years, it has already been established that we are far behind by very standardized methods. Being #12 or being #28 doesn't really make a difference when we have the largest military on the planet. I'm not saying that as a defense, mind you; I'm lamenting because it only illustrates our screwed up priorities.

You know, in all honesty. I am known people in Kentucky that have been in trouble. I took them groceries ,payided their electric bill to help them out. Many of the posers on this site are probably selling their food stamps for $.50 on the dollar.

I have seen so many bleeding heart liberal's on here that would not lift a hand to help another person. I'm proud to say I look out for people whenever I can.

Your beef seems to be with the source of all the stats.

Does this count as passing the ball or are you going to show me how it is still on me to prove you right?

Didn't know you knew the lives of everyone on here that you consider a bleeding heart.

Very good to hear that you help out those in need though.

If I recall, you aren't really discussing the report, either. You are saying how the results do not matter because we have a lot of great stuff and things.

No, the report doesn't matter because it's well-known we are down on the previous million lists that have come out so whether or not this one is accurate, the discussion would be the same.

My god this is too easy. I ask for you to prove your statistics, again you only gave me sources that agreed with your presumptions. But did not give any information on how they arrived at them.

You really aren't very good at the bait are you?

Among the amazing things that you feel make our nation great, you listed earlier: food stamps, unemployment benefits, section 8, and welfare. "Bleeding heart liberals" are constantly under attack for being the only ones defending those safety nets.
