I find myself with Dr. Tyson on the issue, specially talking about UFO, aliens, crashing UFOs and to sum it up, we don't need stupid aliens who are capable of interstellar travel but unable to land.

What I find very interesting is that some top scientist including Stephen Hawkins, predict that aliens might have bad intentions, and there is even documentary covering the issue, but what I find funny is that that even documentary did not move much from movie blockbusters where we are always the winners.

I agree-we overestimate our significance.

I'm not going to travel thousands of miles to teach an Icelandic child the dangers of smoking, so why should an advanced race travel thousands of light years just to tell about the dangers of nukes?

It's the Samaritan complex-some believe that no matter how badly we screw up there will always be someone or something to bail us out whether it be god or aliens.

Going by Slayer's post and the other supposed alien thing, mutilations of both animals and people, I would suppose we could be looked upon by them as highly trained cattle... get some useful work out of us (get the gold) and get some harvest-able protein while they are at it. I guess whole animal harvesting isn't something they are into though.

This is especially my conclusion studying this question since the 70's.

I wouldn't trust whatever they say are from or wherever they say came from.

I find it unlikely that an organism that didn't evolve concurrently with the thing it eats would be able to digest it. So I'm reasonably sure that we wouldn't be harvested as cattle. Though, this is a complete guess on my part. Who know how it would work really?

Not to derail but:
Being that we have fire and brimstone, plagues, death and destruction how can you be so sure your God isn't Satan himself or that you are not already in Hell? I can't think of anything more evil than Satan himself creating a false image of himself as God. I hear he is pretty good at deception.

So what happens to the people that died before the angels showed up? Or what happens to a new born that just so happened to be born at the moment that your so called Angels showed up, but was born into a village that is not aware of your beliefs? I guess the only good thing to do is send that baby to hell, Yeah thats an Angel aright. You might want to look around and reconsider If your so called God isn't really Satan himself , if you are into that Fantasy stuff.

Let me guess if those so called Angels showed up and you and your family weren't part of the few, then would you still call them Angels or now label them as Demons?

Woow, I just noticed that I did not take seriously post by DrogoTheNorman, because I am just unable to believe grown up people still in 21st century believing in Satan?! This little fact is just mind blowing, but brings reality to what would happen if we or to be more accurate when we first time contact an alien race.

It is just out of my ability to understand what it takes for someone to irrationally think this way, to turn off any critical thinking...

I could imagine a scenario where Earth is similar to the aliens' world -- i.e., similar gravity, atmospheric gasses, temperature, radiation levels, etc. -- and maybe planets that match up so well to their own are so rare among the part of the universe to where they are able easily travel that when they DO find one, they would wish to colonize it.

I find this unlikely. Scientists are discovering more and more planets in the Goldilocks Zone of various stars all the time. Not all of them are likely to be inhabited. In fact, it is becoming increasingly likely that there are planets circling almost every star.

Picking the ONE planet out of all the possible ones that happens to be inhabited for its resources seems disingenuous.
