If it's the end of their tour of duty, then fine. However, if it's not, they should be charged with Desertion.

Why should they be fine with fighting in a country that has done nothing to cause them to fight there?

But how can they be considered deserters if they are considered volunteers...which the article shows is not true.

If you start prosecuting volunteers how does that make you look...this could be a big problem for Putin.

Seems your source doesn't understand how training works...because in case you missed this they are there training the Ukraine military.

First information clearing house is a web site that really doesn't put out their own stuff but collects pieces from writers from all over the place . The "they are there training " is or could just be a cover line as with the Canadian military trainers in Syria that happened to get killed by the Kurd's at or near the front line in Syria .Canadas roll was to train but when one of them got killed ,it raised the question about the true nature of the mission .

Like what we know about what is going on in Yemen and what we are being told and not told raises questions .Considering that the US has a very large drone base a stones throw away we or the US is in the dark about who and what is happening .Much like the US ability to produce satellite pic's from all over the earth seems to be few and far between as well as the intelligence to spot and pick up a large convoy of ISIS Toyota trucks taking over Iraq and moving into Syria .

Now we hear also that the US is sending trainers also to Jordan .Well it's not new ,and has been reported that they have been doing this for quite some time and it turns out that they are training rebel forces ,some who are ISIS .To me it's the same old same old where the US run covert operations using proxy terrorist groups that they themselves create .

Now we are to believe that the US is going to train the Ukrainian army to a level that they can actually beat the Russians ? yea sure :>)

It is the same thing as far as I'm concerned and although Sublimecraft already eloquently put it, draft dodgers are those not already drinking the Kremlin Kool-Aid, those that "quit" (if that's even aloud) are disaffected.

Except this isn't about draft dodgers it is about already active troops quitting. And those who quit face criminal prosecution just as here in the states. Except I imagine their punishment is a bit more severe than what happens here.

Anyone with the modest level of intellect knows Russia is meddling in the affairs of Ukraine, including Russians because they have skin in the game. This alone isn't enough for defectors as many Ukrainians are considered countryman. I'd bet it death and war in general.

Well that says something about those who are members here that still refuse to except the fact of that happening...and you have seen exactly what I am talking about.

This could be enough for those to quit, because your being sent to kill people from another country with nothing actually being the reason for it, and before you bring up the US and what they have done...please don't as we already know and it has been discussed thoroughly.

Fighting for a country in a war usually has something your fighting for, but what is happening in Eastern Ukraine doesn't have and end that will show Russia as being in the right for what they are doing.

The article quotes one anonymous source but beyond that nothing to indicate this is the truth. Some may sure, but it's a bit of a stretch to assume this is the reason for an exodus. Could be new military policies, decrease in pay, unsuitable working conditions, who knows.

As far as what's worse Russia or US since YOU brought it up, neither are in the right. They are using Ukraine as cannon fodder for their proxy war. Both need to pull up their big boy pants and have it out or shut the # up and leave the world alone.

It could be decreased pay or not enough food.

But it seems more likely they're quitting because they don't want to die in an undeclared war.

It has been said that their families aren't getting benefits if they die in Ukraine, because it officially isn't a war according to Russia and they aren't involved.

I've said it before but there are really only two options. Either A) Putin and the Kremlin are lying about Russian troops in Ukraine or B) The Russian military is the most incompetent on the planet considering how many troops have been killed or injured during "training."

And why not ? Given additional equipment and training I think it is quite possible that one Russian tribe can beat another
