Sorry I read your post then tvtexan just after so I was kinda riled up a bit when I wrote them. I almost asked if you were joking cause it crossed my mind as possible. Anyway I just kinda get irrate that people would advocate treating some people like this but not all...or rather some industries like this and not many many other ones (most of which are worse for people)

Well I know plenty out here in CA, but we are not in the same boat yet.

They are all non-profit, pretty sure they have to be since it is medical, out here and I am more then willing to admit I have no idea how that changes things.

They buy a little from outside growers, or vendors as they call them.
But grow a majority of it.

This is not a right vs left issue.
Im a typical Texan (politically) and so are most of my friends.
Almost all of us are for legalization for more than one reason.
This is an issue that has a lot of common ground for both sides, right and left.
A great swing campaign issue.

Yea the nonprofit gig is way different and actually much more viable. I know more about the under the table stuff out in Cali than I do the above board stuff. I actually found out a while back that when full legalization was on the ballot in CA friends from up north were talking about town meetings where all the growers got together to oppose it. Their view was it would kill their profit margins and a lot wouldn't be able to pay their mortgages and stuff. As far as I'm concerned its just a plant like most like other plants it has uses and benefits. I see no reason to treat it any different than any other plant out there. No need to tax a plant or criminalize it or any of that other nonsense.

Texas is quite happy to watch millions of dollars get spent in casinos in Oklahoma and Louisiana, refusing to even consider gambling inside the state, so tax revenue from pot certainly won't motivate these curmudgeons.

Sorry, but if the ultra extreme right wingers think it's a sin, you can forget about it gaining serious traction in Texas. Especially with the group of extremists who just took over power in Austin. Too busy waging a war on pre-schoolers and trying to cap teacher salaries to $28K a year.

Not yet anyway. They want to get their piece of the pie for a bit first.

I agree and disagree, I think the taxing of it can be beneficial. Just like tobacco is taxed and revenue gained from it.
I don't want to see the tax rates you showed however.

Oh totally I think all company's should be taxed a the same rate call it a "cost of infrastructure tax" and tax their gross fairly and evenly...I don't believe we should have such a huge government though which would greatly reduce the need for more and more money and bankrupt budgets...but ya know no one wants to talk about that stuff in government lol.
