Oxn ard Police

Looking and waiting for better sources so please bear with me...

This one hits close to home here in my wonderful town of Santa Barbara so I decided to post.

OXNARD, CALIFORNIA — The U.S. Justice Department is reviewing an ongoing internal investigation by the Oxnard Police Department surrounding allegations that the city’s police officers put so-called shooting tattoos on their left shoulders after they were involved in shootings with a suspects, according to a spokesman for the department in Los Angeles.

This is disgusting. Complete and total judicial reform. Prepare Americans because this situations is just getting worse.

If you find more information or better sources please post I will add them into the OP. Nothing more to say.

Sounds like a gang initiation. But they are the police, they wouldn't have a gang mentality would they?

So what? It's ok when gang members get tattoos for their wanton homicides and acts of murder, but when cops are involved, and have to carry the psychological and emotional scars for the rest of their lives, for possibly having to shoot someone, it's not ok for the cops to share any kind of brotherhood for what they've been through?

The sickening part is the thugs who force officers into a situation where they either shoot or get shot, and risk never coming home again to their wife and children. Cops are humans too and have families. And it's not like they are getting rich being cops. There's a lot of bad cops yes but the good ones far outweigh the bad ones.

I'm sure most of you don't know but a lot of local cops run the gang territory as themselves essentially selling drugs, endorsng prostitution. At least what I've seen from when I was in jail and learned about the role the police play. Your gangs haven't left your town their just hiding from the bigger gang with the law on their side. Not all cops are bad but a lot are. In Oxnard there's a local skinhead group called the silverstrand locals not sure if it has any affiliation but I live near silverstrand occasionally and I don't belive their to be a race gang. Just mad locals of tourism.

Classy. Also a bit tough to explain if it turns out to be true.

I don't care who it is, anyone who wants to be reminded of a horrible tragedy every time they look in the mirror is not the sort of person I'd want to associate with. It's one thing to live with having killed someone, but it's another to go out of your way to have a morbid reminder of it literally drawn onto your body. Sounds more like bragging than dealing with any trauma.

It does not mean the shooting was not justified or unavoidable but it certainly does not look good.

I think this kind of thing goes on all over. Maybe not tattoos
but when you watch some of the videos where you see a
cop blatantly murder an unarmed person, I've often wondered
if it wasn't some kind of an initiation. Cops have secret
societies too.

This makes absolutely no sense unless you are claiming that gang members (street gangs in this instance, not the cops) get inked up after murdering someone because they need "brotherhood" and to "soothe the psychological and emotional scars.
Is that what you're saying?

Because that is NOT why gang members get ink after initiation, murder, rape (whatever it is at the time)...

You don't get ink like that unless it's about bragging rights and being "part of the club"...period.

The sickening part is the thugs who force officers into a situation where they either shoot or get shot, and risk never coming home again to their wife and children. Cops are humans too and have families.

Yeah, it is sickening when people force cops into those situations. You know what's even more sickening? Using a thread like this to push the "not all cops are bad" and "this isn't a big deal" agenda.....ignoring the fact that often, the use of deadly force is NOT justified. Ignoring that those killed by the cops that were innocent also had families...I find that sickening, very sickening actually.

And it's not like they are getting rich being cops.

What the hell does that have to do with cops that get ink to "join the club" after shooting someone?
Why even bother mentioning that right now? Diversion from what is being discussed here?

There's a lot of bad cops yes but the good ones far outweigh the bad ones.

Do you ever comment on a post about cops and not feel a need to mention something so cliche?
Haven't we (not you and I, I mean "we" as a whole) had this conversation till we're all blue in the face?
"Good cops" are few and far between because "bad cops" instill fear in them and when they do speak out or attempt to stifle corruption from within, they are ostracized and forced out and aren't "part of the club"....

There are good cops, but the corruption is systemic (as this article points to) and the individual is nothing in the face of systemic corruption. Just another tool. A tool that is rather inefficient and must be "dealt with" by those participating in said systemic corruption.

.....but nice diversion

If there are so many good cops, why aren't they standing up against the bad ones? Why aren't the good cops turning in the bad ones, opening internal investigations? Why are good cops so afraid of crossing that "blue line"?

The corruption within law enforcement must go so high that a majority of good cops remain silent.

To many people, if good cops remain silent ... this is no different than condoning the bad cops.

What the heck is going on with the police in America today.........They should look into every instance of police force in this department. This is getting crazy and I am very surprised that this department ran like this for a very long time.
