What country in the world has a conservative philosophy and thrives?

NONE!

They are failing now with a trickle down theory in America.

Also with the conservative trickle down scam along with the trade agreements there is no way out of conservative austerity like Kansas and NJ where the economies there are failing

Take your conservative dogma somewhere else it doesn’t belong here

Ask the people of Kansas and NJ whether it works?

Anyway your brain is so locked on your own dogma you see things as you want them

Straw men

I didn’t say a thing about socialism. This is about the TPP.

What does that have to do with what you’re talking about?

Ross Perot isn’t a socialist and he was against NAFTA for the simple reason it took jobs from this country

And you’re here talking trickle down dogma, socialism, and taxes another subject

These trade agreements are Trojan horses for the greedy corporations.

It’s very simple...they can export American middle class jobs to slave wage countries with impunity

Also while there in those slave wage countries then can sue those countries, for example, when the countries try to stop them from selling cigarettes, something they CAN’T DO OVER HERE

They will also pollute these countries air freely

That and more, all things favorable to the globalist corporations are in this TPP and ALL THOSE OTHER DECEPTIVE TRADE AGREEMENT SCAMS…

America is evolving steadily to a Burger King, Wall Mart economy!

There's nothing to stop it

Most are unaware, this site has been pretty good with the details of it. Thanks for the reminder, as it's much needed because of it moving "forward".

Maybe others can catch on with their preferred news shows sharing about it...

Obama says Elizabeth Warren she is wrong about the TPP: Clip at :40.

At 2:27 Hardball asks Obama why Warren is "saying these things".

As usual he gives a BS answer. Unbelievable.

And the sheeple sleep.

The media is highly complicit in making sure the regular folks are fed BS rag mag news to aid in disconnecting the folks of what really affects their day to day living... IE: paying attention to what is actually being done in DC...

THis whole TPP is YEARS in the making, and folks here have been raising eyebrows to the concept...

Yes, the folks are going to go through another ride, question is, How can we encourage folks to really pay attention to what is happening?

Tough deal... playing against a well stacked deck IMO.... I don't even get too outraged anymore, seen it coming as did plenty of others...

I think the most frustrating aspect, is how to trigger folks to care enough to pay attention... not so much revolutionary type deal.....

THe folks are already armed with the tool (brain) to fight this, it's whether or not enough decide to use it to stop this...

This a cleverly crafted, and implemented plan... THe folks are so bombarded by divisive issues intentionally to make it near impossible for a concerted move to organize in opposition....

If even this small portal of the world, cannot agree that we are being played, what does that do to our odds of reversing the playing field...?

Obama is a confidence man.

Everything he says here is a con and a lie,

He knows he hasn’t done much of anything for the middle class jobs that left this country.

He knows that in the election he promised to do something about NAFTA…and what did he do?

NOTHING

So all his rhetoric about the common man and how he has done so much for him is a bald face lie

Ha. I hear ya.

But the problem is that no one believes that the little people have power.

If everyone stopped buying gas for one day, for example, we could create change. If just one in every 1000 people protested something that they believed in, we could create change.

We've been led to believe we are powerless by design. We don't have to go along with it.

You are singing my song.

People are either in a dead sleep or sleep walking. They know there is something wrong with the world, but they are waiting for someone to tell them what it is. The have lost the ability to see, and think for themselves. They don't trust themselves, so forget about trusting anyone else. They don't want to take responsibility for anything, and want to always blame someone else.

No matter how may times you tell them, they will not listen. The fix is so very easy. It is just so darn hard to do, because "you" have to do it. You can't cheat, you can't pawn it off, you just have to "do it". You have to take ownership of your own life and you have to "Stop Feeding the Beast"!

You control what you buy. Why do you keep giving your hard earned money to those that are enslaving you? You are in a cage and you are paying the people to keep you there. Want out? Stop feeding the monsters of this world. Watch them wither like the Wicked Witch of the West, when you pull their plug. You will feel the power.

The TPP Will Sink the Middle Class

Six years into his presidency, President Obama is now taking heat from a surprising place: congressional Democrats, who are lining up against his plan to force the Trans-Pacific-Partnership, or TPP, through congress without any debate whatsoever.

If approved, the TPP, or as I like to call it, the Southern Hemisphere Asian Free Trade Agreement - SHAFTA - would create a whole new set of rules regulating the economies of twelve countries on four different continents bordering the Pacific Ocean.

Unfortunately, because the TPP is being negotiated almost entirely in secret, we don’t know a lot about it. What we do know about it, though, comes almost entirely from leaks, and those leaks paint a pretty scary picture.

Thanks to groups like WikiLeaks, we now know that the TPP would give big pharmaceutical companies virtual monopoly patent power, let corporations sue countries in international courts over regulations that those corporations don’t like, and gut environmental and financial rules. Given facts like this, you’d think that President Obama would want Congress to actually take the time and debate whether or not the TPP is a good idea for the
American people. But that’s apparently not the case.

Sounds pretty, anti-democratic, right? Well it is, and that’s why Congressional Democrats are now speaking out against President Obama’s request for fast-tracking powers. But the fight against TPP is about more than just whether our elected representatives should get a say in the trade policy of our republic - it’s about whether the middle-class will survive through the next generation.

As economist Adam Smith pointed out in his classic book The Wealth of Nations, manufacturing is what really creates the wealth of nations. That’s because manufacturing creates things of real value like cars that can be sold to create wealth. This, in turn, helps create a middle-class made up of working people who make the things that fuel the economy.

Every single great power in modern world history has understood this. That’s why they protected their domestic industries with strong tariffs that made goods produced by domestic factories cheaper than those made abroad.

The Founding Fathers understood the importance of manufacturing as well. One of the first things George Washington did when he took office was ask Alexander Hamilton to come up with a plan to boost American manufacturing. The result was Hamilton’s famous Report on Manufactures, which proposed using tariffs and subsidies to grow the industry of our young republic.

While controversial at the time, Hamilton’s report eventually became the playbook for 200 years of trade policy that made America the greatest industrial powerhouse the world has ever seen. And then everything changed.

Starting the 1990s, Washington began embracing a new school of thought about how to grow the wealth of nations. This new school of thought, pushed by Wall Street and corporate America, said that so-called “free trade” deals were the best and fastest way to riches. All free trade deals like NAFTA and CAFTA really did, though, was take the most important part of our economy - manufacturing - and send it overseas.

According to Public Citizen, NAFTA alone led to a net loss of over one million jobs.

As a result of all this, manufacturing now makes up just around 12 percent of our GDP, a far cry from the 1950s, when it made up almost 30 percent of our GDP. This is about as bad as it gets.

Without a strong manufacturing base, no great power can survive as a great power. It will instead become dependent on foreign goods and the financial world to create wealth out of thin air - a recipe for economic disaster after economic disaster. And without strong manufacturing jobs that actually create things, the middle-class will wither and die, just as it has started to do here in America over the past few decades. This is why the current debate over the TPP and fast-tracking is such a big deal.

Two decades of free trade deals have eviscerated the middle-class and bloodied the American dream. If President Obama goes ahead and signs us onto another free-trade deal, especially one as destructive as the TPP, that will be like tying a cement block to the feet of a drowning man. It will spell the end of the American middle class, and, for that matter, the vision of the United States that Alexander Hamilton first put forward over 200 years ago.

So call your members of Congress today and tell them to "just say no” to the SHAFTA/TPP and President Obama’s request for fast-tracking powers.

What will happen is this. Similar to Bill Clinton when Obama gets this passed he will seal the doom of the middle class and rraise the massive wealth of the already wealthy.

For that Obama, like Bill Clinton, will be rewarded very well after his presoidency.

500, 000 dollar speeches

A million dollars just to speak at corporate events

A foundation like Clinton to save taxes and accumulate wealth and power just like Clinton is rewarded now

Access to millionaire and billionaires and their private Jets whipping around the world to the best golf courses in the world

That’s why Obama is trying so hard to past this Trojan horse TPP

Like they say

Every Whore has its day

Accountability - NONE

Totally agree....I was lifelong JFK democrat, until I questioned Obama's qualifications. I was attacked by democrats from all sides and called a racist. Needless to say, I'm no longer a democrat, but since I'm not a republican, I'm a political soloist. I believe this kind of divisiveness is intentional--and is the reason that everything has a "racist" angle these days, even when race has noting to do with it.

We are at the end of another great cycle. Like the others before us, we shall die off in droves and revert back to a stone age type civilization.

Sure, some of this cycle will remain as myth and legend for the next cycle.

This could actually be good for us if we could spend some damn time and money and modernize our immigration systems.

But most wont even realize that or understand it because we're being told that this is all bad.
I say, not necessarily.

What a whole bunch of crap, it was our nations politicians and private greedy interest the ones that prop and shape the China of today, now politicians wants to prop more deals so 20 years from now they can go and create another trade somewhere else to take away the power of the last one.

I tell you, sometimes I wonder about the morons that runs this nation.

I guess the unemployment is so high here that we may not be able to afford Chinas manufactured crap anymore, so now we need cheaper crap from another source.

Great reply.

The average person can see how it works in a few easy examples:

No one is going to McDonalds anymore. Slowly, our nation is changing its eating habits. McDonalds has taken a bad rap. So, as a consequence, 800 McDonalds are closing.

That happened by default, so imagine if one in every 1000 person protested purposely on a range of issues, or if everyone stopped buying a certain product for one day.

It's just so easy, but god, you're right. Convincing the brainwashed people to see the big picture feels impossible most of the time.

What are people in America doing? WatchingTV?

Those of us who care are working hard to pay our ridiculous tax rates so the people who are screwing us can get paid.

You know, because we're not given a choice

You're right on the money! They take 22% of my pay before I get it, my home just went up 70k in one year...hooray? NOPE, you guessed it, my property taxes nearly doubled. Everything (but groceries) that I buy are taxed heavily. Can you say unfair taxation? Isn't that what caused our forefathers to leave Britain?

Oh and we need the blood of your first-born. You must take a poop and throw it as far as you can, after 3 shots of rumplemitz. Recite the alphabet backwards 22 times, eat a whole ham, and reach at least twenty mph on a slip and slide. At a packed dodger stadium.... Holy Moley! This is just bonkers. I love my country! God Bless 'Murika!

I think this trade deal is just part of a bigger problem.

There is an urgent need for a new paradigm that integrates the continued development of human societies and the maintenance of the Earth system (ES) in a resilient and accommodating state. The planetary boundary (PB) framework contributes to such a paradigm by providing a science-based analysis of the risk that human perturbations will destabilize the ES at the planetary scale. Here, the scientific underpinnings of the PB framework are updated and strengthened.

www.sciencemag.org...

Humanity has exceeded 4 of 9 ‘planetary boundaries,’ according to researchers

www.news.wisc.edu...

As long as we don't see a real paragigm-shift we actually don't need to make any fuzz at all.
This is insane, and it has to end.
