I was replying to a thread and thought of a funny thought, why not show each side just how comical their sides are. So let's set this up...

In this corner, weighing in at 2000, the middle weight representing Texas, the man from Harvard (and Yale)...Skull and Bones Dubya!!
In the other corner, weighing in at 2008, the light weight, representing Chicago (or Hawaii or Indonesia or Kenya), the man from Colombia (and Harvard)...Guy With a Funny Name Obama!!

Gentlemen, take your corners. We want to see a clean gaffe, no hitting below the belt and no kidney punches (unless you have healthcare).

Dubya gaffes

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

''I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things.'' —President George W. Bush, aboard Air Force One, June 4, 2003

''You work three jobs? … Uniquely American, isn't it? I mean, that is fantastic that you're doing that.'' —President George W. Bush, to a divorced mother of three, Omaha, Nebraska, Feb. 4, 2005

''Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country.'' —President George W. Bush, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sept. 6, 2004

Obama gaffes

"Just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee -- which is my committee -- a bill to call for divestment from Iran as way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don't obtain a nuclear weapon." --referring to a committee he is not on, Sderot, Israel, July 23, 2008

"Let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel's. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under a McCain...administration. It will be a strong friend of Israel's under an Obama administration. So that policy is not going to change." --Amman, Jordan, July 22, 2008

"I'm here with the Girardo family here in St. Louis." --speaking via satellite to the Democratic National Convention, while in Kansas City, Missouri, Aug. 25, 2008

"It was also interesting to see that political interaction in Europe is not that different from the United States Senate. There's a lot of -- I don't know what the term is in Austrian, wheeling and dealing." --confusing German for "Austrian," a language which does not exist, Strasbourg, France, April 6, 2009

More to come...

Seriously, no contest? Which of the "57" states do you call home?

You are right. Bush wins. Why?? Mr. Soetoro, who also purported attending Occidental and a University here in CA, using a SS# of Harrison Bounel doesn't gaffe. He lies.

Who had the worse gaffs, Bush or Obama?

I'll tell you who had the worse gaffs, and it was neither of those two.

The folks who had the worse gaffs were the idiots who voted for either of them (myself included, once in 1999, never, ever again!)

That's who had the worse gaffs.

Can't blame Bush for being brutally honest:

"I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office." --Washington, D.C., May 12, 2008

"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006

"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." --as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

"Do you have blacks, too?" --to Brazilian President Fernando Cardoso, Washington, D.C., Nov. 8, 2001

"They misunderestimated me." --Bentonville, Ark., Nov. 6, 2000

"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." --Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005

17. "Can we win? I don't think you can win it." --after being asked whether the war on terror was winnable, "Today" show interview, Aug. 30, 2004

Going to go with Mr. Bush aka King Rat II as winner. Reason? "Mission Accomplished", which ties with his burning desire to find out just what happened to that d*** goat.

Frankly, I think the public is, or should be, more interested in what these world leaders said in the way of untruths rather than mistakes of simple facts, grammar or diction. I'm suggestion who spoke the most outright, know lies to get what they wanted from the American people. Guess who wins? Gaffes are usually seen as something humorous. Lies are in another catagory.

This is supposed to be non-partisan, but it highlights that both of these men received a very great education, and yet Harvard, Yale and Colombia turns out students like this.

We could say that Bush's daddy got him into Yale and Harvard, but those still require a certain academic achievement.

And for a Constitutional law professor, Obama doesn't seem to know much about it.

Who made the biggest gaffes? Harvard, Yale and Colombia.

Chris Matthews.

He had a political orgasm on national tv over Obama.

Biden?

Then I would need a whole other thread dedicated to just Papa Biden alone.

I think people didn't get my point, they are always throwing things at the other side, claiming they are so much smarter than the other side. So I was showing that gaffes happen on both sides.

What we really need to look at are the actual accomplishments of each side. Bush might have started the war over there with them, but Obama kept it going. So much for a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

I think it would be fair to say that each President is under a lot of pressure every day and every thing they do is judged because they live in a fishbowl.

I don't like Obama's policies, and I knew before he was elected that he was really only saying what people wanted to hear. And what they wanted to hear was John Stewart, Jay Leno and David Letterman make fun of them. People really judged the presidents over what Saturday Night Live and Comedy Central claimed in their skits.

Sad really, pop culture has reduced the job of the president as comic fodder, which is what I kind of did also. For either man, it shows that they were really under a lot of pressure and in the constancy of public speeches, sometimes gaffes happen.

But they are hilarious to read, so that is what I was trying to accomplish, a silly moment that people can laugh for a moment and forget that their respective side is so much more better.
