In 2011, at 47 yrs. old and not having fallen since my early twenties - I was sitting at my kitchen table, which sits right up against an alcove
window, reading on my laptop - It was storming, but not terribly...
...all of a sudden a huge lightening 'explosion' hits right outside that window, about ten feet in front of my face (and now keep in mind, I'm only
5'3 and about 145 pounds)
It scared me so badly, that I 'leapt' up from the table, and running straight to the living room, tripped over the carpet edge, and hit the back of
the loveseat so hard - that it slammed forward hard enough to break off a front leg and then flip back and hit me hard enough to bounce me back,
throwing me up off my feet - whereupon I finally came to a rest by crashing to my knees on the tile floor!
I immediately (almost reflexively) start screaming "ice, ice, get the ice packs!", just absolutely terrified that I had broken both knee-caps...
...fortunately they were not broken although they both developed huge 'pockets' of blood under the skin (where the phrase 'water on the knee' comes
from), I had to go to the doctor to have it drained - they use a huge needle and syringe to suck the blood out - then had to go back a few weeks later
because it filled back up again...
It took over three years for my knees to stop hurting and I still can't kneel on them comfortably...
Here's the kicker: the topic I was reading about right when the lightening hit, something I had never before had any interest in reading about
online...
...Alien Abductions
