F-22 Jet Engine Maintenance - Up Close!

Here's a video from the base here, testing and getting the F-22 engines ready for maintenance. I didn't know they did this in some kind of controlled/indoor area, I would have assumed doing it outside would be easier. Regardless, it's pretty neat to see the jets up a little closer than normal, and that sweet blue afterburn...

They do it inside to keep the noise down. We used to have a house that would blow the exhaust into a water tank, which would convert it to stream, which would vent out into the air. Never heard a sound from it.

It's called a : Hush House.
It has been in operation before 1980.
Looks like a hangar with funny sides.
I have run up several types of fighters in them.
Scary because you are in the cockpit looking at the doors 30 feet in front of you while at full power.

Then there are the times you're looking at the doors in the mirror on the canopy bow.

That was a most expensive mistake, just on the aircraft side. New nose strut and wheel, intake repairs, new radome, new canopy (that alone runs about $100K.

Hell, I would be happy as a pig in pooh so I would not have to be out in the -20 temps. Plus, who needs a space heater when you have two of the strongest in the world about to heat the joint up.
