So obviously graphic content at the link.

Video from the dashboard camera of a Cottonwood Police Department cruiser showed a close-knit Idaho family that appeared nearly invulnerable to stun guns, police batons and fists during a melee in a Walmart parking lot March 21 in which one person was killed and one officer wounded by a gunshot.

Cottonwood Police Chief Jody Fanning showed the video during a news conference Friday morning and said no matter what tactics officers used, nothing appeared to deter the family of eight. The dash-cam was the only one of three that was operational that night, Fanning said.

That got out of hand FAST. I certainly feel any loss of life is a tragedy, but I don't see this having gone any other way really after a certain point. I had to watch that video a few times so much was going on. It appears that about 3:10 the cop is wrestling for control of his gun and the other cop comes up and pops the guy going for it. Good call.

Tragic as you say, but when someone goes for a weapon, not least an officers weapon, when surrounded by police, they have no reason to expect anything other than what happened, to be the result. It is fortunate, given the insanity of that melee, that more harm was not done.

This is one of those instances where the police did what they had to do, and nothing more.

We're these "people" on drugs or something?

something seems really off about them, like they're not all there or something.

Oh geeze.. this is pure lunacy!

The old man: You're being a Nazi! You're being a Nazi!

I for one cannot stop laughing.. don't really find anything very tragic.

No kidding! I only watched the first five and their actions made no sense whatsoever.

It was more like characters out of a movie had crept into the real world. The way they kept getting loose and approaching the officers was weird; it was like they didn't know what they were doing. Like automatons.

One thing for sure...I bet they're popular to have as neighbours.

This is just what the whackjob "father" of this family wanted, an apocalyptic end to his family to justify his nonsensical bible ravings.

Another Jim Jones or David Koresh.

Or ISIS...

Holy hell I gotta say I may have responded with a bit more force if I found myself in their position. This is one of those times I wouldn't have felt bad had they gone for their weapons a bit earlier. That big boy looked like he had more meth in him than a little bit. He took pepper spray more than once and a taser and was still pummeling guys. I got quite confused as it seemed either bystanders or the family itself was fighting with him. To be honest he would have been shot first just due to the damage he was causing...its amazing how this was not way bloodier than it was.

That's exactly what it looks like. But then again, maybe they were just simply fanatical Christians, lol.

Crazy stuff either way.

Wow...that went really bad in a hurry. Can't help but wonder if it could have been different. Can't fault law enforcement too much as it seems the family was very confrontational. Hardcore religious beliefs and the expectations coming with them lead to all sorts of bad decisions. A very large family to be living in a suburban which had to be a very rough life and would certainly make anyone angry. Just a shame it all boiled down to this.

Wasn't exactly Ali v's Liston..Anyway, Do the Cops in the US not know how to separate a group, contain and evaluate the situation without the need for violence, as far as i could see they just steamed in.

Are you serious? The reason they started the brawl is BECAUSE THE COPS TRIED TO SERARATE THEM!

But you don't care about the facts... the facts clearly visible and audible.

Carry on with your anti-America campaign

All i saw was a bit of finger pointing before the Cops showed up. Wasn't exactly WW3 going down.

remove quote post.

SNIP all i'm saying is it was a non situation...I didn't see anything that would warrant a reaction like the one we saw from the cops... they should have called one or two over for a chat instead of getting in the middle of things... there approach was aggressive and only served to escalate something that was a minor argument as far as i could see.

Troll
2nd... can't forgot the 2nd.

I'm certainly not trolling, all i'm saying is it was a non situation...I didn't see anything that would warrant a reaction like the one we saw from the cops... they should have called one or two over for a chat instead of getting in the middle of things... there approach was aggressive and only served to escalate something that was a minor argument as far as i could see.

If you read the article you would see that the family had already assaulted an employee.

Cops show up, and try to separate the family... just like you said they should have (if they weren't evil American cops)

So again, why are you trolling? Posting lies?

They were an end of times religious family.

The police think they were taught how to fight police.

A little more worrying is:

"The dash-cam was the only one of three that was operational that night"

So other police cars cruising around that night making stops had defected dash-cams? hmm

As for the family, anyone that is with family who get into a fight know that if someone touches your family you fight to the bitter end. But things the way they are in the US right now, you have to think twice when even talking to a cop.

Gun-Ho.

Blame is on the person who throws the first punch.
