And you'd spin a humanitarian mission somewhere as the evil US trying to get a toe hold into another country.

Yes, always the 'humanitarian' side to war… (ETA: Destroying countries to save them)

looks like the western main stream media is firmly entrenched everywhere these days…

Just because western forces have been involved in questionable actions in the ME does not mean that we have spread death and destruction ever were else.

Further aggression? Neither the South Koreans nor the U.S. Troops stationed there has made any military move against the North Koreans in decades.

Yah, not much threat from those (lol) "three us soldiers" you saw the "whole time" you were there.
Yeah, during my two years there I saw three U.S. soldiers. I taught in Suwon, which is south of Seoul. Not many soldiers go to Suwon, so I didn't see many. Is that so hard to understand? There are approximately 30,000 troops in South Korea, do you expect I'd shake hands with all of them?

Look, I know you're pushing an agenda and it's obvious why. What I'm trying to tell you is that unless you've been there, you've got ZERO ground to tell ME what the political and military situation of South Korea is.

Take care.

I wouldnt be so worried about missle weapons but some secret advanced laser weapons that would most likely have a yield similar to a nuclear weapon. Also suitcase nukes, nano weapons, bio weapons and other such things would be the big killers of people as they cant really be defended against by soft targets of large populated cities. When it comes down to it its not worth risking the lives of an entire nations citizens in a modern war with an advanced nation. If you think North Korea doesnt have nano and bio weapons then your sadly mistaken.

Having read other pieces about this press meeting it seems he was speaking out of practical preparations and not any evidence that they are capable of doing it.

In the Posture Statement from March he outlines the reality that NK has a plan and mock-up for this weapon, and outlines the fact that their space program when combined with it may allow them to create such a weapon, but that this has not been seen. There is no evidence that the KN80 is even a working product.

It seems that Admiral William Gortney has basically said that they are working with the assumption that this is what NK is aiming to achieve - development of this weapon - not that they have achieved it.

It's common sense that you develop methods to counter any potential threats, and this potential weapon is a potential threat, of course they should be working under the assumption that it will be done, or has been done.

I do love seeing all the nay-sayers here screaming about the money spent and the "propaganda". While I agree that military spending is somewhat out of control, you would all be the first ones screaming if NK DID manage to strike your country, and NORAD had just sat on their behinds doing nothing to prepare a defense against it.

It pretty strange to see the number of people here who seem to think the US should not be preparing to defend itself against potential threats, as if NK is just some misunderstood problem child who just really needs a hug. lol

And its hard to treat a country fairly that is a military dictatorship that has concentration camps that would make Hitler jealous

Tell that to victims of the Khmer Rouge or Maos Great leap forward-the death toll from those regimes could number 100 million.Granted the NKR regime is guilty of atrocities but IMO they are tame in comparison.

Neither do you have the right to tell me what I can say either. if your scientific measure of rads in Japan wasn't whether people 'glow' and your measure of occupation is how many troops you 'see', I wouldn't' reply to you so much. But you are on every thread and always squashing any "anti establishment" viewpoints. To the point of ridicule but still within TnC.

Take care.

Ah, the old tactic of cherrypicking what I say to make me seem uninformed and ridiculous. I have said multiple times in this thread that there are approximately 30,000 troops in the South Korea. I PERSONALLY didn't see many. I have said many times on several other threads that Fukushima is a dangerous situation with the potential to go from bad to worse VERY quickly, but you cherry pick my obviously tongue-in-cheek "glowing" comments. I see right through your methods. As every single level-headed member here also does.

If you think being critical of North Korea is "pro-establishment" maybe you should look into North Korea's oppresive "establishment". The students I taught in South Korea have bright futures ahead of them. Futures even more open now that they are comfortably bi-lingual. Futures that wouldn't have been possible in even the wildest fantasy if they lived under North Korean rule. They can go to any country they want, learn whatever they please, express themselves however they like, and live according to THEIR terms. All of these things are impossible under North Korean rule.

So if you want to talk about establishment, let's talk about North Korea first and foremost.

You asked for one. I only chose to name four. But yes, we all know the US is evil and single handedly responsible for all the problems in the world.

Who's the biggest arms dealer on the planet? Who occupies more countries than anyone?

Who is in constant denial about that and always blaming the next victim for what is about to be done to them as well?

The U.S. is largest arms exporter in the world. What, did you expect me to refute that?

Currently, the U.S. occupies exactly zero nations, or parts of nations, at least under current military conventions.

Russia, however, is currently occupying the following nations:

Ukraine:

South-Eastern Ukraine
Crimea

Georgia:

Abkhazia
South Ossetia

Moldova:

Transnistria

Huh, weird.

Your onto some truth there, however I wouldnt expect many to recognise the evil elephant in the room. We always look to others yet refuse to look in the mirror at our own wrongs. America needs to turn swords into farming tools, stop war and wage some peace for a change.

You can try to twist it all you want, but countries with our troops based in them are free to ask them to leave at any time, and they will. They are there by treaty, not as occupiers.

What the U.S. did to the Native Americans is disgusting and wrong. Nobody would dispute that except for those "Manifest Destiny" idiots. What point are you trying to illustrate here? That sovereign soil isn't uncorruptable, that borders don't change in time? If that were the case, Italy could claim they have dominion of half of Europe.
