Ehh....

So anyone else made the trip, here?

Just trying to get this thread back on topic.

I dont think anyone really gives a crap about whos driving how fast or what.

If you want to have a bitch fight about that then you should start your own thread and then have at it there.

Sheesh.

I don't give a crap... at least not enough to post a 4 large paragraph ranting post about it anyways.
The topic I believe was who has been down GLR = a steady stream of tourists for years. Whoopee.

If you want to get your money's worth, you should go to an unmanned border spot and make the dudes visit you. Just be mindful of the signs. Note you need to be able to turn your vehicle around without cross the border. That can be tough with 2wd and street tires.

I apologize for my part in that. I didn't want a bitch fight at all. I just wanted to say I was there and tell what happened. I didn't think anyone would respond like that. Most people here are pretty nice and respect each other.

I did talk to one of the locals who said she had never seen anything unusual, except for some of the tourists. lol
She was a nice older lady who seemed very genuine but also had a smirk on her face that made me wonder what she was up to... Its a cool side trip to make if you are in Vegas for a few days. Just to be able to say you were there, its kind of a right of passage for the X-Files generation.

I wouldnt be surprised to find out all the locals think all the tourists are a bit strange.

How many locals actually live in Rachel?

My brother and I made the trip to Tikaboo peak about 10 years ago, camped at the Base of the peak, and walked up to the top the next morning. The hike up to the peak wasn't easy in some spots, lots of large gravel, and 75degree incline in some spots.

From the 93 it was about 26 miles of dirt road. (if I remember correctly)
(found directions online, from someone who had taken the trip....lots of gps coords and via points which i still have saved in my old gps)

We took some close up photos of the Area 51 base with a camera pointed through a pair of binoculars. (Searching my computer for them now, will post when i find them)

We watched the sky late into the night, but didn't see a thing (though I have seen strange things in the sky, just not near area 51)

Funny thing, my brother woke me up in the middle of the night all frantic about hearing noise's outside the tent, I woke up in a daze and wasn't sure if I should look into the air or on the ground.....LOL

www.inplanesight.org...

A more up to date Tikaboo drive and hike GPS data at the link above. The hike is 100% grade in places. A stick really helps, and you should always have a stick when hiking.

You really need a telescope for Tikaboo. If you don't have one, I think a camcorder is more useful. You can find videos shot from Tikaboo or Janet's landing, MIGs, Sukoi, etc.

www.nellis.af.mil...

The above link is handy if you are going to visit the Area 51 border. While you've made the trip, you might as well see something flying.

JFEX is a lot of fun to watch. Use the "Keno" GPS data from the Inplanesight.org website.

What they list is "Advanced Integration" is the weapons school MEP (Mission Employment Phase). Lots of dog fights and precision bombing. The period in June and December right after weapons school graduates is a period where Groom Lake and the TTR are the only major users of the Nellis range. It is a good time for testing.

We thought about bringing a telescope along with us, but considering some spots on the hike up we were glad we didn't

I've heard that insanity is doing the same thing over, but expecting different results. Maybe the answer lies within asking the right question.

And you flew over the alleged S-4 base as shown in the photo. But no matter what you say, the true believers will never give up on the existence of S-4.

I want to go to area 51 I've been studying the base since I was 8 years old and I have a few things they might want to hear if they don't have them already

I was there week before last. The "Extraterrestrial Highway" signs have been almost completely covered over with stickers from the plethora of morons who feel compelled to ruin something a little more each chance they get.

There was a large dead cow laying next to the road near "Little A'Le'Inn" at Rachel. It's body was bloated, with noxious gases escaping through a small hole in its belly, while it's head was stripped to the bone. I almost puked from the smell, but I did get some good close up shots.

I went inside "Little A'Le'Inn" and had a Denver omelet with orange juice, and then purchased a small bottle of Alien tequila (silver) as a memento. I had told some friends I would buy them something from there, but I simply couldn't bring myself to do it since it was ALL crap made in China. Very disappointing.

While I was at the cash register I saw an old pensioner-looking dude with gray hair come sauntering in, followed by this hot, much younger Mexican-looking babe with a really nice rack. When they left they climbed into a big bus-sized R/V towing a Jeep Wrangler. Lucky guy!

Anyway, I was basically scouting some potential recreational gold prospecting sites in and around Nevada. Trying to learn how to not claim jump, but I'm willing to do it if necessary. Screw'em if they can't take a joke.

Good choice for a photo op.

That alien tequila isn't unique to the A'Le'Inn. I saw it at the big liquor/fireworks shop off I15 near Moapa reserve.
The rest of the crap they peddle can be found for much cheaper on eBay.

That sounds like.... ART? ART BELL??

I too am an amateur prospector. I paid for a Google Earth overlay of claims in Nevada. Trust me, there isn't much that isn't already claimed. Although, I can't imagine anyone getting too bent out of shape if all you are using is a shovel, clarifier and pan on a creek.

I did some detecting around old mines with my Goldbug, found a whole bunch of old nails. That's about it...

I have been to Area 51 twice. Camped at the "end" of the gravel road that went into East gate (?) . We pitched a tent after my husband (BF at the time) got caught in the intense beam of a searchlight while scrambling around in the brush one night, (we had been having a good time in Vegas and were driving back home to SLC, Utah and since neither of us were employed at the time....we took a detour to Area 51. (I posted on here a couple of times about my husband and my experience there)

The second time we saw some lights that moved in such a way that we slept in the car. Both times we were followed out by Jeeps with the "came dudes" (guys in camp type uniforms) and armed with weapons.

Good times......(kinda scary times, too)

They moved most every thing to Utah now, from what I heard.

What about those giant air ships, that can stay aloft for months, anyone ever see one, they'e heavy camouflage.
Where do they keep the air ships hid.

The "camo" dudes will do that, especially if you camp out near the border. Flash you with spotlight all night, make sure you aren't creeping across the border. Pretty gutsy for first time there!
