Choke was the first Chuck Palahniuk book I read as well, and I enjoyed it so much, I've read most of his others. But I feel like his work has gone
down hill since Choke... Or maybe the shock value he used to have with me no longer exists.
I had this issue with Palahniuk's work as well. There's no doubting his talent, but the schtick get's old after awhile. I don't feel like he's grown
as a novelist. He's the Nicholas Sparks of shock and awe.
The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie. I basically randomly downloaded the book onto my tablet. Abercrombie listing high in alphabetical lists actually being
the sole reason.
Then loved the book. Even if the fantasy genre is never really my cup of tea.
Once The Heroes finished, I went straight on to the First Law-trilogy... and loved every bit as much.
