-Dec. 19: Car bombs explode in a central Najaf square and at Karbala's central bus station, killing at least 60 people and wounding more than 120.
-Dec. 13: Two suicide bombers blow up cars waiting to enter the Green Zone, home to the U.S. Embassy, killing 20 people and wounding at least 13.
-Dec. 3: Militants stormed two police stations and detonated a car bomb beside a mosque in Baghdad, killing 30 people.
-Nov. 11: Car bombs targeting U.S. and Iraqi government convoys in Baghdad and Kirkuk kill 18 bystanders and wound 44.
