He can still do a deal with the EU regardless. He could annexe Donetsk tomorrow via another dodgy referendum & in a few months after it settles down, the eurocrats in Brussels will agree to a deal. Sanctions will be eased & Russia will get to keep it's new land.

Putin doesn't need an endgame because the EU is weak & simply doesn't have the stones to stare down a military threat from the Russians. Hence, they'll continue in Ukraine & will only stop once the Ukrainians recognise the authority of the rebel held areas & give them autonomy. Until that happens Putin ain't going to stop.

The sanctions should be increased & in a few years when the elite & their way of living starts to be seriously affected, Lil Pooty will be taken care of.

Putin was relying on Merkel to run interference on sanctions considering their trade ties. When she did not go down that road, it threw Putins plans into chaos. When Ukraine didn't outright respond to Russian aggression, like Georgia did, it didn't give Russia the ability to openly invade the areas they wanted.

When they annexed Crimea they tried to block the UN from weighing in. They were successful in the Security Council, where they have a veto, but were unable to stop the declaration from the UN General Assembly.

Putin thought his actions would be ignored and people would just move on. Instead his actions resulted in something he was trying to avoid, NATO placing NATO forces in countries that border Russia.

Putin has dug himself a deep deep hole in a corner that he cannot get out of unless he back tracks on his actions, in which case he will be done in politics. The failure of putins plans have created internal power issues that he now has to deal with.

I really do think that some point before their next elections putin will find a way to seize control of the government and remain their for life, or until he is removed.

I can tell you why i dislike NATO. It's a terrorist organization that had killed thousands of innocent civilians in order to gain control over the country that stood up to them. Is there even a need to give specific examples? Syria, Libya, Serbia…

Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen…

Afghanistan is the only nation you listed where NATO was involved. They were not involved in the others.

People are clueless and don't 7 n Der stand NATO first it doesn't have its own troops. It has to contact generals in a countries military. NATO IS NOTHING MORE THAN A MEETING PLACE FOR MEMBERS. Any thing discussed there stull has to be coordinated through commanders in France or UK and they can say no.

Could happen sooner than one thinks if things don't change fairly quick in Russia...

You don't start messing with people's money...Which is exactly what is happening in Russia, because Putin is too hard headed to see what he is really doing to his own country.

Russia is in real trouble they are having to use their reserves to bailout Russian banks there are Mass layoffs occuring. Their energy companies are now losing money. Russia has about 18 months of the reserve funds and than things get really bad. The Kremlin has used these to prop up several sectors. For example without government funds the Auto sector will be shutting their doors. Saw an estimate that 60 percent of Russian banks are already insolvent. And we'll their technology integration has all but stoped.

NATO isn't Russia they can't take territory or hold it. Russia invades neighbors and takes territory. No matter how you play it NATO is defensive it's an agreement of member nations to defend one another from all outside threats. Good example of that is Isis NATO warned if ISIS attacks Turkey NATO will respond. But even with NATO each country maintains control of their military. So unless all the countries in NATO agree to use force or the agreement demands force. In other words Russia were to say attack Poland than per the pact every member nation must send support.

You just show how little you understand about NATO if your going to make wild claims you might want to read their charter. Wouldn't hurt to look into how the members coordinate their forces. Ultimately who ever is in charge if a countries armed forces remains in control and NATO Must get their approval.

Just like Desert Shield? The Warsaw Pact and Soviet State are disbanded. NATO uses the imaginary excuse of Russia might expand in a Cold War way to justify its own expansion, the real today threat is NATO.

Russia isn't attacking Poland.

However…

NATO in Poland...

Yet Russia proves them right by threatening and invading it's neighbors. Your a fool if you don't think Russia is a threat to Europe. We see the same actions over and over Russians show up get alot of civilians killed eventually annex territory Germany did the same guess they weren't a threat either.

Funniest part is Putin caused this to happen he's got eastern Europe rushing to join NATO. Poland who was not supposed to get a NATO base of operations will now host foreign military. And Poland is pushing for missile defense which they had previously rejected. If NATO wanted within 4 weeks they could destroy Russia's offensive capabilities. The problem becomes than Putin would most likely go nuclear since no one wants this no benefit to NATO members. However I have no doubt they have a plan in case Russia forces this. First step take out their nuclear strike capabilities have to b we done quickly all at once.

Problem is no one is sure how much can be destroyed how much cam be blocked and hiw many will just fail on launch. Saw where they said over 50 percent of their nuclear arsenal is in disrepair. That was why they had all those failed launches.

In the end confrontation is not a good idea and the only way it will occur is for Russia to leave NATO with no option and let's pray it doesn't come to that.

Wow - someone read to far into the post while at the same time being touchy.

I stand by my comments regardless of how trivial you get.

Putin is Russia on the world stage.
Comments like these aren't done without approval.

Strip away exaggerations and pseudo intellectual hyperbole... and read what the guy actually said.

www.mid.ru...!OpenDocument

"The problem does exist, and there is only one solution to it – return all non-strategic nuclear weapons to their national territory, prohibit their deployment outside it, eliminate the rapid deployment infrastructure for nuclear weapons, and stop training (exercises) the military personnel of non-nuclear states in the use of nuclear weapons."

The problem, he says.. is the US allowing "non-nuclear" NATO nations control of nukes.

Oh boy, now those are some super scary, and obviously frik'n insane, fiery demands from everyone in Russia... according to UPI anyway.

Putin should be careful what he asks for. The solution to that will be donating nuclear weapons to Poland.

Poland would do back flips to get nukes. They are so paranoid of a Russian invasion. But I will say one thing Poland and Russia sure are having a war if words as of late. The polish people really do hate the Russians but I guess being occupied for 50 years might do that to a country.
