(This is the first of what will be a long series of posts on this topic in this thread.)

Carl Jung described a psychological phenomenon he called " projection." It is the tendency for people to believe that others are thinking or feeling the same thing they are. People can project their own intentions on to others; we have all experienced this.

Vladimir Putin has frequently claimed that America, the EU, NATO or " the West" is trying to " destabilize" Russia. This is a strange and extraordinary claim. Russia has a strong central government, loyal and contented populace, an ancient culture united by a common language and institutions that have remained intact, despite changes of name and personnel, for centuries. Can the leader of such a nation possibly be so insecure as to believe it can be overthrown by a few foreign NGOs giving out laptops to encourage people to buy American consumer goods?

No. Putin's fears that NATO is attempting to destabilize Russia is nothing other than psychological projection. Vladimir Putin is consciously trying to destroy the European Union, not by military means, which would be suicidal, but by precisely the sort of subversion he accused " the West" of.

Unlike Russia, which is strongly united by language, culture, and history, the European Union is a weak federation of nations, each having its own language, culture and history. Many of these nations are traditional enemies, and even now have difficulty agreeing on policy. Whereas Russia is solid and stable, the European Union is a house of cards that can be blown apart... and Putin is doing his level best to do that.

A good place to start is by looking at the political parties that support Putin's aggressive policies towards its neighbors, and which, in turn, are supported financially by Russia or fronts for Russian interests. For example, a Russian bank recently loaned money to the far right French Front Nationale. A secret cable on wikilinks suggests that Russia is also funding the ultra-nationalist Ataka party in Bulgaria:

The rhetoric of the extreme nationalist party Ataka has become increasingly anti-American in recent weeks, with much of the party's wrath focused on proposed joint military facilities and Bulgaria's participation in the Iraq coalition. Neither high-profile infighting in Ataka's parliamentary group nor persistent speculation about its imminent split have eroded support for the party, which won nearly nine percent of the vote last June within weeks of its founding. The recently-launched "Ataka" daily provides a larger platform for its extremist views. Its slick format, professional editing and provocative anti- American headlines have caused circulation to surge to thelevel of some of the smaller mainstream dailies, but have also raised questions about the sources of Ataka's funding. The party maintains close public links with the Russian embassy.

Canonical ID:05SOFIA2025_a (Wikilinks cannot be directly linked to.)

Among the other ultra-nationalist, Fascist and neo-Nazi parties Russia supports:

Vlaams Belang, a Belgian separatist group that delicately advocates ethnic cleansing:

For those aliens and immigrants who reject, ignore or contest the above, a policy of repatriation will be implemented, through appropriate legislation regulating political asylum, nationality, security and expulsion. Illegal and criminal aliens must be repatriated. Voting rights are reserved for citizens.

Jobbik, the far right Hungarian party with its history of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial.

The Golden Dawn, the Greek Fascist party.

All of these political parties reject the unification of Europe under a federal government; each favors secession from the EU, and in some cases, even from the nation they are a part of! The ultimate expression of Russia's cynical support for these groups is without doubt, the EODE, the Eurasian Observatory For Democracy & Elections, or Евразийская Обсерватория за Демократию и Выборы, as it more comfortably styles itself. It was the EODE that proclaimed that the Crimean referendum met " international standards." It said the same thing about referenda in Abkhazia, South Ossetia and other colonized Russia carved out of it neighbors. It is a rubber stamp for Russian imperialism.

And who runs this " independent, unaligned" Non Governmental Organization? For starters, here's Luc MICHEL (He prefers styling himself with his surname IN ALL CAPS). One glance at his own website gives the lie to his claim to impartiality. Note the red and black color scheme, the official Nazi livery. This is because he was a political disciple of Jean Thiriart, whose Nazi collaboration is a source of pride to his admirers.

Then there's Jean-Pierre Vandersmissen, tireless workhorse for the Parti Communitaire Nationale-Europeen that international organization dedicated to supporting dictators everywhere.

But, then, perhaps I am wasting my time rehearsing facts that are no doubt well known by many members here. Let us instead see where this nurturing of extremists both left and right has yielded Mr. Putin:

Golden Dawn in Moscow: We set the foundations of Greek-Russian cooperation

MEETINGS WITH RUSSIAN OFFICIALS AND THE TOP ADVISOR FOR PRESIDENT PUTIN, THE UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR OF MOSCOW, ALEKSANDR DUGIN.

The People’s Association headed by our members Artemis Mattheopoulos and Eleni Zaroulia visited Moscow and had extensive talks regarding Russian political and economic factors.

This visit marks the formal approach of Hellenism with Orthodox Russia through the People’s Association, expressing the will of the Greek people for an immediate strengthening of bilateral relations....

[Edit for brevity--DJW001]

With respect to the possibility of cooperation between the two states Mr. Dugin was very clear and stressed that this is imperative because we share the common values of Orthodoxy and culture. Greece needs to lead a cultural (and geographical) empire in the Mediterranean region. Mr. Dugin believes the destiny of our country is the creation of a new empire with cultural content, based on ancient Greek values.

The Golden Dawn is a natural ally of Russia, and is fighting American expansionist policies. Russia is perfectly aware of the political persecution against us and believes that this is precisely because we talk openly in favor of a geopolitical shift towards Russia.

Of course this all might be for naught since he seems to behaving the same issue and little Kim did in N. Korea and dropping off the radar screen. Putin's last public appearance was on March 5th. He canceled a signing ceremony that would have annexed Abkhazia into the Russian Federation. He also skipped the FSB meeting.

Some have speculated he has Pancreatic cancer however that's not confirmed.

Putin backed himself into a corner by invoking the Nazi card to justify his invasion of Ukraine. He cant back down while at the same time hes trying to cover up the Russian deaths occurring in Ukraine.

Any minor medical problems could easily become compounded by the stress.

You really couldn't make a point without resorting to dragging in nazi-ism could you...

Too bad the same "logic" can be applied to the West (and zionism).

You probably also think then that Putin is a hypocrite for not accepting neo-nazis in Ukraine? lol

Silly thread, sorry, 13 in a dozen, not a shred of evidence,...

Do you even know any of the parties you refer to?

Vlaams Belang is a party on life support, THAT alone would have been enough for me to discredit your entire reasoning.

Want me to pull out some stats on the decline of Vlaams Belang?

Of course, Mr. Putin is playing a double game:

On February 5, 2015 President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras.

Vladimir Putin congratulated the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) on their victory in the recent parliamentary elections and Alexis Tsipras on assuming the post of Prime Minister.

The discussion covered a number of international issues, including the situation in Ukraine and the circumstances around the South Stream and the Turkish Stream projects.

Vladimir Putin invited MrTsipras to visit Russia at any convenient time.

www.greece.mid.ru...

Greece is perhaps the least stable state in the EU; it is wracked with debt from decades of quasi-socialist government. It has already announced that it is considering withdrawing from the Eurozone, withdrawing from the EU altogether might not be out of the question. Whatever Mr. Putin said to Mr. Tsipras during that phone call, here is what is happening now:

Greece threatens to seize German property, Berlin refuses to pay WWII reparations

Germany says it won’t pay Greece World War 2 reparations after Greek PM Alexis Tsipras said Berlin is using legal tricks to avoid paying compensation. Germany says it’s honored its obligations, while Greece says it may start seizing German property.

Germany once again dismissed Greek demands to pay reparations for the 1941-44 Nazi occupation of Greece.

rt.com...

Note how Russia is again stirring up shades of Nazism to divide European opinion, while welcoming actual neo-Nazis like Golden Dawn into its own orbit!

All of this support for extremist parties is intended to fracture the European Union. Why? Because the EU is one of the three largest economies in the world. Russia cannot compete against it. On the other hand, if the EU fractures and Germany, France and Britain go their separate way, Russia suddenly becomes the dominant economy in the Europe, and can fancy itself a rival to Japan, China and the United States; a superpower reborn.

Last years results for Vlaams Belang.

In 2010 they went from 18% to 12%

Last year they went from 12 to 6%

From 18% to 6% of votes in 8 years time?

I'm convinced, they're taking over!

It doesn't matter whether or not they are popular, so long as Putin can use the to stir up unrest. Furthermore, their decline from 18% to 6% is less of a decline than Svoboda's in Ukraine, yet Putin propagandists keep pointing to the very existence of Svoboda as " proof" that the government in Kyiv is " Nazi."

I am not claiming that the existence of Vlaams Belang means that Belgium is over-run by Nazis, I am merely pointing out that Vladimir Putin has been cultivating ties with radical groups in an attempt to destabilize the EU.

If its true, and its a big if, an argument could be made that Putin is trying to "right the wrongs" of the past before he moves towards the white light.

The really scary part of that scenario would revolve around Putin with his finger on the launch button and knowing what he does wont matter since he is not going to survive anyways.

A severe medical illness that you cant control will takes its toll on a personal mental health as well.

When the thread is about Putin and his Nazi supporters, its hard not to mention Nazis.

Too bad the same "logic" can be applied to the West (and zionism).

What logic? All I have done is point out that Putin's alliances support a particular strategy. I will ignore your reference to Zionism.

You probably also think then that Putin is a hypocrite for not accepting neo-nazis in Ukraine? lol

I believe that I have made that explicit. Why do you find it funny?

Silly thread, sorry, 13 in a dozen, not a shred of evidence,...

Did you click on any of the links?

Do you even know any of the parties you refer to?

I am certainly not a member of any, but their various manifestos speak for themselves.

He hasn't and I JUST proved to you that you're wrong because these groups have ZERO influence here. So what if there are "ties"?? They're worthless and what's worse is the current powerhouses in the west are ALL connected. So what is it you are implying, politics happen???

I live in Europe and I don't support a EU where the individual member states have no say in things, which is exactly where things are going. I support every political party that realises this before it is too late

And YOU DJ are actually trying to smear every party that is involved in damage control of what the EU is doing, with "PUTIN WAS HERE" propaganda.

Disgusting tbh.

Yes it can take its toll...

But you're assuming that is how Nuclear Weapons launches work...

Just one man with a button...

Which is just not realistic.

Aside from that, you're assuming he is losing his marbles enough to start a nuclear war that he won't be around for that will kill his family & friends.

& I respectfully disagree.
