X2 flare detected today..cme on its way.

From spaceweather.com. An X2 flare has been detected and a cme is emerging from sunspot AR2297. Not the best at embedding info. Odd to see such a strong flare from the only sunspot earth facing. I could be wrong about how common that is. But interesting none the least. if this has been posted...sorry.

Thanks for the heads up. Will hop over to spaceweather and see what's up, hopefully nothing to be alarmed over. Usually depends on location if it affects us directly.

Looks as the though the east half of US was effected by the initial flare.

Those ripples either side of it look intimidating (spaceweather.com).
