A bit. But I think realistically both companies jumped the gun on releasing there consoles early. I see why they did it, to get on the market early, but realistically if both systems were coming out today or at a latter date, there would have been a jump in hardware for both systems and more better games out on them.

Cant comment on the order as I did not play it. But other then its a short game, which is probably because they pushed it to be an early release what can you expect it was supposed to be a flagship game on the PS4. But really that seems to be the thing which everybody holds against it, its short. Other then that its pretty dam good in every other aspect, graphics and gameplay and all else. So if it was a longer or had a multilayer people would be saying different things about it now.

But ya, for the most part it takes much longer to make a good game sometimes much more then the lifecycles of consoles. I mean look at a game like Final Fantasy XV, the game has been in development for over 9 freaking years, went through a whole bunch of phases and graphical developments and who knows what, in fact we got I think like 3 different Final Fantasy 13 games, in that time and two variations of final Fantasy 14, and a bunch of other games as well from the same company. And considering that the average console lifetime is 6 to 8 years? Well you do the math. The only thing I can say, in all that time they must have done something to make FFXV stand alone, and from the vids I seen it does that.

But really when you look at it. Unless its one of those games which they pump out every year with a bit of a update most games do take a lot and a lot of time to develop, sometimes pushed back for years and years just for the right time when the technology comes along to realize it.

So ya! I am a bit miffed with some of these new games out, and if the PS4 or any of them came out next month, really we would not miss much in terms of games. They did jump the gun like I said on this, I think simply to get it all out there earlier and so that companies already have something to work with for a future date, instead of guessing on what they have to do, or the limitations on the hardware which they are not familiar with. So ya! it is what it is. In all the first cycle of games there generally is one or two good games and the rest are kind of filler, most great games come out in latter cycles of a consoles lifetimes.

There are 2 or a more machines in the make, one being the steam machine. And another I seen some time ago which was shown at the latest game conferences. Though either way, even if those new systems come out, they will have a harder time to compete with Sony or Microsoft especially considering that by the time there on the market both companies will really get going and there will be a lot more newer games out on both the PS4 and the X-box one.

The steam machine can probably do it, and it will have lots of games, but they will be all older games which are out already and you can download on steam, which you can for the most part get on both the PS4 or the X-Box one. So really why not just get a PC? Though the concept of it is interesting, and does have possible or at least on the hardware side more benefits, but those are down the line at least 3 years from now.

But like I said, even with all that, it would still take a few years to create a game which may blow peoples minds. So really hardware and constantly upgrading your system is kind of a pointless when any new game which would be worthwhile and use all that will come out every 3 years or so.

Either way you slice it, if your waiting for the newer better games, you still will be waiting a while for them no matter which system you own now, or even if you had the game systems which are coming out months or a year from now. But ya your right, the hardware competition will keep all of them on there toes and generally leads to more better things all around.

I dont know the borderlands series is kind of not that great, but to each there own I suppose, I probably just played FPS to death, even FPS rpgs dont really do anything for me, and all the newer shooters even if they have great graphics are old news to me.

Final fantasy 12 is the best final fantasy so far. Or at least in my book, FF7 was cool for its time. But 10 and 13 were really not my thing, even 14 it being an online game turned me off it. I even forgot about FF15 for a long while due to its long development, but now that its not that far, it does look like it will be the better of the final fantasy games to date.

This dam fight with behemoth I seen from the gameshows they had these last few weeks pretty much sold me on it.

I think I even heard that there are some fights with the monsters in the game which will take 10 hours to beat. Could have been a joke, or not, but dam from what I seen on the scale of some of the creatures in the game, it may be true. Particularly this version of adamantoise. The giant turtle thing in this vid, they have it and all the other monsters in all the other FF games, but now the scale of things has been upped it seems.

To anyone that suggests getting a PC I have to say, and I don't speak for everyone, that a PC is just too damn confuzzling! Yes I made that word up
I mean for F's sake I'm a gamer NOT a computer engineer! The PC has too much technical mumbo jumbo to deal with and all I wanna do is plug the system in, insert the disc, wait for the obligatory but short install and PLAY!!! It's simple and that's how I like my video games.

Borderlands was just another FPS in my opinion. Boring. Give me an in depth RPG like Ps1s Valkyrie profile or suikoden any day.

I started out as a pc gamer in the 90's, and then switched to consoles with the playstation 1, I have noticed that game quality has gone down as graphic quality has gone up, of course , there have still been good games here and there. To be honest though games are just an endless line of shooting games and rehashed sports titles, i got bored of playing and our ps3 is mostly just a dvd / blue ray player now, a shame really. Story has definatly taken a back seat in game development now i think. I am getting a pc for gaming next i think, i like Car and flight sims so ideal for that.

I'll tell ya, if they screw up Bloodborne I am going to go crazy! If it lives up to it's predecessors then there will be at least one game that doesn't disappoint this gen.

That is the case for all releases right after a new console comes out. The developers haven't figured out how to utilize the full power of the new technology and the games start out looking like previous gen games except maybe a bit shinier. I remember the release games for the ps2 were VERY underwhelming and look how that system turned out. It became one of if not the most successful systems ever.

You are playing the wrong games. I can keep myself entertained for months on story games easily from the previous gen of games. I have a huge list of games that I haven't played or bought and NONE of them are sports games or FPS games.

If you like tactical JRPGs like FF:tactics then play the Disgaea series. Those games are insane and are designed so that you can massively over level everything to a ridiculous amount (the maximum level for each character in the games is 1000).

Lead design on BB was same as DS1. I don't think they can screw it up, not like they did DS2.

Well I've been waiting a long time for this game, I've seen other devs who created great games take a turn for the worse. I am very optimistic about this though, I am liking that you will actually be able to co op with friends this time, although it's supposed to be 8 character passwords to join, still easier than previous methods haha

Not disappointed. It will take a couple of years for programmers to start to utilize all of the new system graphics/capabilities.

It was the same with the ps2.
When it first came out there were not a lot of good games, but 5 years later? there were so many good games!
It was and still is one of the best gaming systems there ever was.

The xbox 1 and PS4 are kind of like that. Just wait, within 2 to 3 years,
gaming on these systems will be way more than it is now.

Been a gamer since the late 70's with atari, pong and space invaders,
and I am not disappointed in the least. Patience.....

The new systems are far better than the older ones and once all of the games start piling up,
you might change your mind.

I've been waiting for it for a long time as well, but don't know if I can justify PS4 for a single game.

I will have to see what the latest info is on co-op. If they haven't streamlined or expanded on summoning stones, I may not bother with it.

I personally loved the co op in demon/dark souls, a few tweaks & it would have been brilliant.

Coming out in 2 weeks now, but bloodborne will not disappoint. Back when demons souls became popular, it took a bit also for it to pick up steam. When the game first came out not many tried it, in fact I was one of the few people who bought it at launch, and it took about a year or more for people to really pick it up and give it a try before it even became popular.

But ya! After it got popular the team who did the game split, and some of the original people went on to work on "project beast" ie bloodbourne for the new systems which were coming out PS4 and such, and the rest on Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2, so in all its been in development longer then Dark Souls games.

You can see from the vids, I like the direction they went with it. Instead of the whole swords and shields thing, now its purely action, no more turtleling up behind shields, and it seems they even took out magic and switched up for gunplay, old school gunplay but still pretty cool, or at least as far as I know there is no more magic system, but you never know. And they went with the whole more modern dark Victorian theme instead of the swords and shields mythical theme, and and its a lot more bloody now hence the name.

My only grips so far from what I seen, it seems to easy in the first game. They seem to be able to take a lot more damage now, in the first game everything could pretty much one shot you if you were not carefull, and also it seems healing items are more plentiful now. But that could be just the demo versions of the game they shown are more user friendly for demo purposes. Oh ya! Finally we can choose who we co-op with, or at least kind of, I would have preferred some sort of invite list, but its still something.

In all, a few short weeks and we will see. Here's one of the latest vids on the game.

Speaking of underwhelming.

My PS4 just blew out it's power supply. I've only had the thing for 8 months or so. Stands upright. Nothing obstructing it's vents. Totally blew out. One moment playing GTA5 the next PZZZZZT!!!! PS4 shorts and shuts off like its power cord has been yanked out of the wall.

Now I gotta spend 60 bucks to get a new power supply put in. Will be out of commission for about 5 days or most likely more.

So yeah, kinda underwhelmed by the "next generation" consoles. Would be a "awesome next generation console" if the damned machine could just actually stay ON! Guess I got a lemon.

Must be just yours.

I got mine at launch when it came out, have not been using it that much, so when I dont use it I let my younger brother borrow it. The guy has it on 24/7, literally leaves it on even when he goes out somewhere, he plays a lot of GTA5 to. Usually when I get it back once in a while when I want to play something, I have to clean it up, bunch of dust in the ducts and such.

In fact the guy has been using it much more then I have, a whole lot more. I generally only play a few games now a days the last game I put any significant time into was Dragon Age, but after that nothing. But if it breaks down or the power supply fizzle in the next few weeks generally around the time Bloodbourne and the Witcher 3 comes out when I plan on using it again. Man will I be pissed, and somebody is going to owe me a new one then.

@crazysh0t

Don't get me wrong, i have played some good games on the PS3, The Last of us being a stand out title for me, but i get sick of seeing COD, FIFA, Battlefield, assassins creed etc being done multiple times but with little improvement beyond the graphics. I don't like online gaming that much either, i kind of miss the old days of sitting around the n64 playing goldeneye and drinking beer with my real mates.
