Well well, I was thinking similar thoughts after the recent revelations of USintel. involvement in the recent "terror attacks" read false flag events in Canada.....
Fruitful ground for the US to slide in to teach Canadian agents the US ways......and not get caught as easily......
What says the bunch here?

U.S. National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden says Canada has one of the "weakest oversight" frameworks for intelligence gathering in the Western world.

Snowden made the comments during a teleconference discussion hosted by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and the Ryerson School of Journalism, moderated by CBC Radio host Anna Maria Tremonti. He was speaking via video link from Russia.

I say he would know better than the general public so he is probably correct.

There was an award winning documentary on Snowden recently, filming the actual moments of giving the information to the Guardian and seeking sanctuary in China.

Canada is already a fascist colony, it's just a subtle kind of fascism right now, so this really isn't glaringly bright news, to me anyway. Here's a little test for those who wish to find out just how crazy CSIS actually is; Send them an FOIA request along with a postal order for $5 bucks (check to make sure the amount is still right and whom it's made out to, I think it was the minister of finance). The FOIA should request all information on yourself for yourself. Then wait 30 days and see what comes back. If they don't send you back information stating something within 30 days, apparently you can take them to task.

I can almost guarantee that in every case, you will get a "We neither confirm nor deny that we have information concerning the applicant and we reserve the right to withhold any information we may or may not have based on stat 16(1) and 16(2) followed possibly by additional statutes." I'm paraphrasing, actual wording in the links below. Then, if you send a letter to the Privacy Commissioner you will more than likely receive a letter stating that "You have received all of the information you are entitled to," meaning nothing. In Canada, you are not even entitled to view your own information for the purposes of correction or even simple examination.

LOL try it, I dare ya. I did it and what came back was a bit weird for an old guy with a bad back and bad eyes.

CSIS FOIA Request
Privacy Commissioner Response

Sorry they are PDF's but it was the easiest way to import the jpegs and produce readable files using Word Perfect.

Considering Canada still spy's on all incoming and out going traffic he's wrong.
How does he know still? Has he been in access to the NSA's and the CSIS computers and servers since he ran away 3+ years ago?

The government at all levels can intercept and spy on anyone they suspect of committing a serious crime here in Canada, even the slightest hint of 'terrorism' or a national security risk they can do this. And how they do it? Tracking in coming and outgoing communications.

They even kind of outline it in the open on their FAQ under Lawful access.

www.justice.gc.ca...

And to prove my point, I made a completely 'anonymous' message on the RCMP website when I was about 18 (10 years ago) about me getting strange and obscure messages from terrorist like MSN messenger tags, and they tracked me down all the way to my home phone number, cell number, and my active playstation forums tag name.

So, is it weak?

The oversight is weak, meaning they can easily go out of control and off the reservation real fast with no one to stop them and no consequences. CSIS is absolutely lawless, but then so are most if not all Canadian agencies and NGO's.

Good thing the US is there to help!

NSA Gave Canada Money For Surveillance Program

The National Security Agency paid Canada to help develop its surveillance capabilities, according to documents published by Glenn Greenwald in a new book.

We must be so well off here in the US that we can afford to help develop other countries before our own! And hey, why stop with Canada? The NSA is basically paying their way into counties to allow open border snooping.

In "No Place To Hide", Greenwald, the journalist who has been the conduit for the Edward Snowden leaks, reveals that Canada was the fourth largest recipient of money in 2012 from an NSA program aimed at helping partner nations cover "R&D and technology costs." Only Pakistan, Jordan and Ethiopia received more funding. The document does not provide an exact sum but suggests Canada received somewhere between $300,000 and $400,000 in 2012.

Less than half a million might not set off any bells and whistles but it still begs the question, why would the NSA want to help fund the other three countries?

CSEC is not supposed to spy on Canadians but has admitted that it sometimes "incidentally" monitors citizens. The new documents raise questions about how much data intercepted in Canada is being shared with the NSA.

You can pretty much guarantee anything the NSA would like to look at, it does. What do you think all that "funding" was for? We'll help you spy on your citizens if you help us spy on the world. They are like the "biggest brother" in a family of boys.

Canada is a member of the surveillance alliance known as the Five Eyes, which includes the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand. In an NSA document from "No Place To Hide" the group is characterized as taking part in "comprehensive cooperation."

Out of the five eyes, Canada must be the weakest. The NSA is their prescription lens. I'm not buying it. This make me look at Snowden with a closer eye. He's been getting restless lately.

CSIS and the RCMP have been using these technologies since before 2001. If it were to get out of control, it would have by now.
Also, we as a nation actually follow our charter of rights. The CBC is fluffing everything up to make it look bad. Read the link I gave and it clearly outlines what they can and can't do.

Looking at the suspiciously promoted events of laTE....Ottawa AND Quebec...WITH THE NEW TERROR LEGISLATION FOLLOWING CLOSELY ON THEIR HEELS .....ID SAY WE ARE A CARBON COPY OF THE American SPY SYSTEM.....WITH LESS RESTRAINTS..........The Nazis are alive and well in the intel business in Canada....

You honestly believe we follow the Charter of Rights, you try that in court LOL. Good thing I wasn't drinking my tea when I read that or it would have come out my nose. Do know how much corruption is hidden in closed courts and sealed proceedings? Do you know how many injunctions there are out there to keep the government from falling? The Charter of Rights is nothing but a fluffy feel-good piece of paper and like our fiat currency (made in Australia and managed by the IMF since trudeau handed the BOC over in 1975), it's a confidence game.

If we had a real Charter of Rights, it would include property rights and the right to refuse, to say NO, but we don't have that right now, do we? Canada is not a colony that embraces freedom, it's just the illusion of freedom. And I don't mean freedom in the sense that you can do anything you want, as I am a firm believer that my rights end where yours begin. However the true meaning of freedom is the ability to say NO, to refuse something and mean it without consequence. Since we have a government that operates on extortion and exploitation, I'd say freedom does not exist in Canada.

Back to the OP, WTF is up with CSIS when they can refuse to give you your own information? CSIS can't even make the excuse, in my case anyway, that they had me under an ongoing investigation, because I came back from Africa 17 years before I made the FOIA request. If they wanted to charge me with being a merc, their definition not mine, they should have done it in 1990. So, is it a national security issue that you know your own information that CSIS or CSEC keeps? If so, I guess we are ALL national security risks now. Geez I feel much better, it's not just me anymore and that makes it even more ridiculous.

The entire situation is retarded, all this money and intel and not one confirmed case of stopping real terrorist activity, I'm not talking the government enabled terrorism where a government sets up a false flag terrorist, trains them and gives them the materials, but rather terrorism they didn't know was going to happen. The US spies on Canadians, the Canadians spy on the US and then they exchange data so they can say "they" didn't spy on their own citizens, lies and lies of omission. It's messed up and we are headed towards a situation where King Harpernista can't be removed and then we have a full blown fascist colony, soon to be annexed by the US and sold by Harpernista.

I have a fridge magnet that says "Cheer Up, The Worst Is Yet To Come"

I think Snowden is referring to the Jeffery Delisle spying for Russia case.

en.wikipedia.org...

It was pretty crazy how the guy could swipe so much intel without getting caught.

This isn't about the US, it's about an intel community that is lawless and out of control. You might notice that the head of the snake is the UK, it's not the US. If you go back to the treaties at the end of the American War of Independence, you will find that the US owes the UK a crapload of money and they still do, with interest. If you think the US is in control, well, I have to laugh a bit. You'll also notice that the other "eyes" are ALL UK colonies, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Funny junk huh, go figure ;-)

This isn't about the US, I have no problem with people in the US, I think they're great most of the time. I have a problem with the intel community pulling the puppet strings of the ALL the politicians (and them going along with it) and creating situations favorable for their masters, the money power. It's like the myth of the Cold War, actors on a stage. The sun never does set on the british empire, but especially never sets on the agencies above MI6.

If anything....since WW2 we are certainly guilty of allowing wolves to guard the collective hen house....
To me its like a river of crap sweeping over the face of the earth.....
There are so many things we do back arsewards....
I don't mean just the economy or the homeless...I mean the entire structure of the way collective resources get utilised....
Corporate entities are allowed to destroy , denude, and otherwise monopolise whole swaths of the national forests....
Aqua culture is destroying natural fish habitat at an alarming pace.....
BC would never ship raw logs till it was economically strangled into allowing this to happen.....
Large tracts of prairie fields taken over by big AG....
Foreign ownership of more and more of the countrys resources....
It seems to make little difference what the actual inhabitants of any place may desire...
The decisions and the impetus comes from many tiers above....
I have no answers....but I can see the general direction that things are proceeding.....
What we call democracy is a sham.....
While we slept the wolves have eaten the chickens....
