Zarqawi snatching Bin Laden glory?

29-11-2004 , 02:06

Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, whose handover the Iraqi government requested of Fallujah residents, has topped a U.S. most-wanted list since the capture of Saddam Hussein, but proved elusive in spite of a $25 million bounty on his head and continuous air attacks.

Zarqawis Tawhid wal Jihad (Unity and Holy War) group (reportedly changed recently its name to al-Qaeda Iraq) has brought, among other things, the reality of gruesome beheadings to Iraq, stirring worldwide shock and outrage. Tawhid wal Jihad has almost never released a hostage and is responsible for many bombing attacks in Iraq.

The U.S. has justified its daily attacks against Fallujah with the claim that it is targeting Zarqawi and his followers. However, the people of Fallujah have insisted that they have never seen the man or heard about him except through various media reports.

Zarqawi is like bin Laden a hovering boogieman pre-prepared in the Western consciousness, uncatchable, unreal, just caught sight of at the edge of nightmares, responsible for - wowee- frightening independent observers out of Iraq
He may well have changed his organisations name to CIAda Iraq. He's well and truly part of their phantasmagorical promotion
Be he dead or holed up in a US hospitality suite somewhere, he lives on only in imagination as pretext for ongoing atrocities
Small wonder the citizens on the ground know nothing of him

As the Iraq campaign approaches its 2nd year, I too have wondered daily how this Jordanian jihadist can consistently out-maneuver all the task force/delta force/ground force/foreign coalition force/UAV/Satellite Recon/GPS/CIA intel w/state-of-the-art gadgetry/weaponry and still elude capture to this date-from a strategic standpoint, even with his 40 thieves network looking out w/secret signals & tip-offs,still seems almost absurd.Keep in mind during/after Tora Bora,UBL,Al-Zawahiri,& Mullah Omar tucked tail, and cowardly ran their asses off to some 'open sesame' location to preserve whats left of their troglodytic destinies.Unlike the Al-Fraida 3 and their tales from the crypt video series, this Zarqawi seems to like to be in the middle of the action,by some media accounts they have this guy dodging C-130 strafes & army enfilades(with a limp?)...now they have him on the run, desperate, from the routing of Fallujah?Could very well be a contrived Orwellian-Goldstein psy-op to give one face to this hydra-headed foe.

I dont think Zarqawi is that much of a danger, he's just a poster boy for extremists like osama bin laden, dont get me wrong they are a threat...but not as much as the US goverment make out they are.
If Zarqawi is stealing osamas 'glory' its because the American media are focusing all there efforts on finding him, they dont focus on osama anymore becuase they have no chance of catching him, from what ive read America gave osama a 3 month head start! ..... Can the bush administration do ANYTHING right????

The question is Do they actually want to catch Osama ?.

I believe that they are demonising Zarqawi in order to make the people forget about Osama.

Zarqawi snatching Bin Laden glory?

glad you put a ? at the end!

IMO, MaZ is not usurping glory from ObL
quite the contrary...now ObL can refocus-specifically on
the Saudi Arabian lands, holy sites, leadership... etc

anticipate another, then another to arise,
so the western forces will have a many headed foes

on different fronts with diverse stigmas & profiles of raging War

& then....

All that high tech stuff is good and all but do you know how they caught Saddam? They didnt use any high tech gear at all they used one of the oldest and most low tech tactics there is when looking for someone they found a rat.

Saddam and his sons were not loved by everyone in Iraq people so it didnt take long to find someone to rat them out. OBL on the other hand is considered a hero by many people much harder to get someone to turn on him.

Also the military was never designed to track down a single person it was designed to fight a huge war with Russia.
