We are very happy to announce that Futurist Dr. Stan Schatt,
www.stanschatt.com, will be our guest for another
AboveTopSecret.com "Ask Me Anythng" session this Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dr. Stan Schatt spent many years as a futurist, responsible for forecasting future technology products and markets for Fortune 500 companies. He
served as a Fulbright Professor to Japan where he taught at Tokyo University. He also taught at the University of Southern California and served as
Chair of the Telecommunications Management Department at DeVry Institute of Technology. Schatt is the author of over 30 books on a wide range of
subjects. He holds a Ph.D from the University of Southern California and advanced degrees from Arizona State University and the American Graduate
School of International Management.
Dr. Schatt's new book, "Extraterrestrial First Contact: Past, Present, and Future" takes a very unique look at something we discuss here on ATS almost
daily, first contact between humanity and an alien race from another world. Dr. Schatt explains current SETI strategy as well as the real danger SETI
is ignoring that could bring about the end of humanity, according to warnings by Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk. This book examines the various forms
aliens could take as well as how differences in their physiology, culture, language, psychology, ethics, and morality could change our world.
Some of the topics Dr. Schatt has indicated he's deeply interested in are:
An actual example of how a tribe turned a first contact with an advanced race (the French in the eighteenth century) into myth
The latest thinking within SETI on what kind of message might make sense to aliens
SETI infighting on whether to broadcast as well as listen
The latest thinking on the part of archeologists of the kinds of alien cultural differences we will have to overcome to communicate
We'll put up an announcement Tuesday morning when this kicks off, we expect to get started at 9:00am Pacific, 11:00am Central, 12:00pm Eastern, and
5:00PM GMT.
