Are moderators been used to control us ?

There are two systems we, as moderators, try very hard to stick to regarding those topics which are of interest to us.

1) Avoid moderating threads in which we have posted our opinions as to the topic.

2) Avoid moderating according to our personal opinions (political, religious, etc.)

The main objective of the staff at ATS is to stay unbiased and moderate only according to the Terms and Conditions which each of us accepted when we joined the membership.

Certainly other online social media has different rules or none at all. So there may well be situations where staff are less responsible for the free flow of opinion and be guilty of biased acts. Not so much on this site though... staff here would not last long should they be tempted to do so.
